Hi,
Having used both since comming back to model flying does any one have any
valid knowledge of the differences of these engines. I allways found the ASP
better but do not think there is any real justification for this. But the
specs usually seem to quote the ASP with a better power output although
these can be hard to compare some times.
Also, for example, if they are directly out of the same stable then why is
there am ASP52 but an SC53.

I have read somewhere that although the ASP and SC engines come out of the
same Chinese manufacturing plant the engine designs are independent,
consequently the quality is probably identical but the products are
different. ASP reputedly employ a design engineer who spent some years with
OS. These days it is not uncommon for engineering companies to sub-contract
the construction of their designs.

So what your saying is I could be right in thinking that ASP has at the
moment an edge over SC and who knows. In the future could be superior to SC
and a direct alternative to OS. - Guess things could go the other way too!
At pesent I seem to get an impression that ASP's quality is BETTER than SC.
I find both take considerably more running in time than a comparable O.S.
product but when run in there is very little difference save for the fact
that ASP seems to have the edge on power.
Having said all that, I have seen instructions that ASP were putting out
that had SC blotted out.

I thought ASP were distributed in the UK only by Just Engines and of the few
that I have bought none had any other literature included than that
produced by Just Engines. However I agree with you that ASP do appear to
have the edge on SC. In my opinion an ASP is a better buy than a budget OS.

Refer to "Engines,Plugs,Tuning, Petrol, Turbines, Mufflers, Cleaning, etc"
sub section "Glow, Diesel & CO2 Engines - all (Home pages) " on my web page,
in particular
AP Engines (Sanye Machinery Co Ltd.)
ASP engines (A.S.P.) (Sanye Machinery Co Ltd.)
Sanye Machinery Co.,Ltd = ASP, AP, Magnum,SC etc
Sanye also manufacture RCV Engines Ltd for which some assembly is done in
UK.
A number of Sanye made engines have different carburettors, head shapes etc
to meet different distributors "brand / cost" needs. A new model may be
first represented under one brand whilst another brand uses up the surplus
parts relating to an older model.
