Just up the road

Having decided that I was in the market for a new engine 'er indoors was
gradually and gently brought round to the same idea.

A nice drive along the most scenic (and civilised) stretch of motorway
in the country. Turn left just before Scotland and we came to Just
Engines, at Carlisle. I had phoned before and arranged to go that day.

I was interested in an OS 25 LA, or... possibly an MVVS 21... or ???
I had seen some impressive write ups on the MVVS, but would it compare ?

The benefit of being able to go and see and handle the engines was
worthwhile. I liked the OS 25 but as soon as I got my sticky mitts on
the MVVS that was it ! The quality of this engine convinced me that was
the one I was buying.

Two ball races, ABC, shneurle porting, and superb feel made it a no brainer
decision. The MVVS is a bit heavier than the OS but that is because of
the quality of the alloy castings whch are chosen for strength.

Back home and then the indecision set in......

I couldn't make my mind up.. run the engine in and use it.. or mount it
on a nice mahogany plinth and put it on the mantelpiece.

It was a hard choice but I finally decided and started running the
engine in today. Even in the initial stages of running in this engine
gives the impression that it is going to be a superb piece of kit.

Just Engines were great to deal with and it was interesting meeting them
and looking at all the kit they sell. One wall was hung with props big
enough to take an arm and both legs off... bit out of my league !!

Well worth a 170 mile round trip, even 'er indoors was impressed  >:-)
(Don't know if that was with Just Engines or the fact that I bought her
soup and a roll on the way !!! )

Don't you just love a run out on a nice sunny day  >:-))

You went out with the missus on a SUNNY day. Are you mad????

Sunny day = flying day

You're excused this time as the trip was model related - but be
careful in the future. We don't want this kind of behaviour spreading
otherwise all women will expect to go out when its a nice day!

Let us know how the MVVS performs in comparison with an OS.

It was sunny and nice and warm... in the car, outside it was freezing !
The small, privately run service station we stopped at for lunch has a
pond and it was amusing watching the ducks slipping and sliding all over
the place. A seagull stepped off a large rock and just slid sideways
across the pond. I originally planned a spot of slope flying 'till I
felt that wind.... time to buy an engine instead  >:-)

Notice I kept the cost down to soup and a roll.
Can't be squandering money on non-essentials.   >;-)

Will give an update when I get to use it for real.

<SNIP>

There you go young Reg, Ian has worked out the equation quite well I
thought.

Since (weeping into my grog) this is our LAST DAY OF SUMMER, you ought take
Ian's timely advice and prepare well for those heady days fast coming your
way. I reckon, with the planet warming and that, you ought to invest in
gallons of sun screen and Guinness (you continue to drink that alien stuff?)
which ought to be on special at Boots Chemist (it is Boots?) 'cause no one
uses it until its too late. Not the grog you understand - just the sun
screen ;-)

If the Doc says so, I reckon a trip to catch up again with our summer at
your place ought to be the go by about August. Got to use your cunning
methods methinks, to even get to the Doc's first ...
