Hi Group
This is a long shot but can anyone give me the sizes of the old Velocette
motor cycle clutch springs. If we have a size and number of turns we hope to
get some made. Thanks

Bill,

Were you to pop an advert on Old Bike Mart you would probably get the
right ones:

It's going to very much depend on the model, I would have thought. I'm
copying this to UKRMC, where somebody in a greasy Belstaff will probably
have the information... ;^)

When the only tools you have are a Bridgeport, a CNC Taig Mill, a Colchester
and assorted other stuff, every problem looks like a steam engine.

off the top of my head, there are different sizes for different models.
There's a velo mailing group on yahoo groups for all things technical
and velo:

http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/velocette/

and Dai Gibbison's excellent velo tech site also gives some dimensions
on clutch springs:

http://www.croesus-consultants.co.uk/v-tec/

to my mind, though, these are already getting made in quantity, as I
have no trouble getting hold of 'em, and christ knows, I get through
clutch springs :)

I don't know if he makes Velocette springs but if you just want to bu
springs try Martin Bratby on 01543 572583 who makes a wide range o
springs for classic British bikes. He can be found at auto-jumbles suc
as Kempton Park. If he doesn't make the springs he will know about the
and be able to advise.

Usual disclaimer apart from being a satisfied customer
