Lambing Flat - 28 May 2004 03:07 GMT
Australian company, Eureka Models, has just announced that they will be
producing an HO model of the New South Wales Government Railways AD60
class Beyer-Garratt

This will be the first injection moulded Garratt to be produced anywhere
in the world.

See more information at the Eureka Models Website:

Rubbish - Kitmaster produced an injection moulded kit of the former LMS
Beyer Garrett many years ago.

And it seems you reply merits the same response. Kitmaster made an injected
moulded, non-running kit (I had one). The Eureka model is (or will be) RTR,
making it the first in accordance with Lambing's post.

Engage brain before putting typing hand in gear.

He was correct. The Australian one looks good and I will probably get
one - but it is *N*O*T* "the first injection moulded Garratt to be
produced anywhere in the world". Period.

It would help.

Excuse me, the original poster simply said, and I quote:

> This will be the first injection moulded Garratt to be produced anywhere
> in the world.

Which is patently untrue - the Kitmaster Garrett is both injection moulded
and a Garrett.

To paraphrase "Monty Python and the Holy Grail".....

"Bloody pedants!"

Will you accept "This will be the first *ready to run* injection moulded
Garratt to be produced anywhere in the world."  Which is what I intended
to convey in the first place........

The Kitmaster Garratt was indeed injection moulded, but it certainly
wasn't ready to run........

The AD60 will be a very fine model, with superb running qualities, the
Australian market would not accept anything less......

Now that's cheating, we could go through the entire fleet of ECML Pacifics
and Flamingo about like that, mind you it would be quite a Tranquil way of
spending some quality time taking a Steady Aim or giving a Straight Deal to
our colleagues in the Commonwealth of Australia who gave me a Shotover my
bows.

Right now with Bongrace I am going to use some Enterprise and in true
Galopin fashion head up the Fairway to bed like a good Nighthawk, and hope
I'm not Kittiwake too early in the morning.

Absolutely, but your original claim would contravene the Trades Description

what you meant to say!  ;-)

Now how do I go about ordering one of the factory weathered examples?

Phil: Kitmaster Produced Motorising Kits (a power bogie - to use in an
adjacent Wagon or Coach), and many Specialist manufaturers here STILL
provide chassis conversions for currently available Kitmaster models
(albeit labelled Airfix or Dapol) - admittedly not the Garratt though.

(At least thes is more chance of 'motorising' an ex-Kitmaster than an
ex-Mongram / Revell steam loco - they seem to come with 'fixed position'
mouldings of connecting rods / valve gear which makes the 'no cement'
instructions on fitting the wheels almost irrelevant (except for achieving
alignment of the pins for the rods)
