John Sullivan - 04 Jun 2004 20:43 GMT According to the July Model Rail, Hornby are going to extend their Skaledale range to cover 2mm:1ft scale, and they will be known as "Little End".

There's a lot of superb models that N gaugers would lobe to see scaled down.
Me, I'd like the APT-P!

Dunno. It says that there will be only one production run, so buy as many of everything as you can afford, hang on to them for a while, then copy Emma and rip off everybody who absolutely has to have one by selling them in dribs and drabs on ebay <spit!> for as much cash as you can screw out of them. (Cynical? Moi?)
Don't forget these things are not plastic injection moulded like the locos and rolling stock, but made out of high density poly resin, which means they are much cheaper to produce.

Dick Ganderton - 05 Jun 2004 21:26 GMT Presumably, if they are built to 2mm = 1ft scale, they will not be the same scale as N Gauge.
If they are any good the 2mm Scale modellers will be happy.

Dick, as a journalist yourself you know jolly well that journalists ignore the differences between these things for the sake of avoiding repetition. I would expect that they are not to 2mm:1ft scale, but to "British N scale", whatever that may be,

Dick Ganderton - 06 Jun 2004 21:44 GMT The type of journalist that would do that wouldn't have heard of 2mm = 1ft scale, let alone mention it! :o))

Adam Warr - 06 Jun 2004 11:19 GMT > Did hornby aquire any british n guage tooling from lima? > > Craig If they have, very little is useable as all Lima's N Gauge locos were very out of proportion.
They did latterly produce some nice freight vehicles which could be resurrected, namely the Syphon G, BR CCT and GWR Horsebox.
It's a pity the locos were so out of scale, as the quality of moulding was excellent - far crisper than the current crop of GF stock.
I remember, as a boy, proudly getting my first Lima Deltic and them watching in horror as it demolished my Builder Plus station footbridge.

Dapol are producing the SR design CCT - a wooden panelled affair not at all like Lima's BR Steel bodied van.
