There seems to be far fewer postings on this newsgroup in the last month or
so.  Is this real, or is there a problem with my ISP / newsreader /
firewall?

The news server I use has 639 posts for the month of May, and 95 so far
for June. If you'd like to check it out, it's free and no ID/password is
needed, but you must specify port 80 or 120 (default is 119). You can't
post through it, but some newsreaders, e.g. Xnews, allow you to read
from one server and post to a different one.   news.readfreenews.net

Certainly confirmed my impression that May was quieter than recently.
