Apparently there was a blood and custard version running on Thurston at
Beckenham last weekend.  Wasn't able to stop and look, due on car park
duties......  Then I forgot.

I saw one Saturday at Wirksworth Exhibition and in Gee Dee's in Nottingham
today. £25 a throw... Hmm .. Nice, but not in my time scale unless they do a
Blue Grey one...

All in all, the paining looks fab, the quality looks great. The flush
windows look very good. Scale wise I will leave to the Magazines, but
overall, it looks a great model. Does it have working lighting I wonder?

Only the Composite Brake currently available.  One of my extremely
knowledgeable customers regrets the use of Isinglass drawings and wishes
they'd used those by Nick Campling, but never-the-less ordered two more
examples for when they're released.

Another suggested that the end windows on the (Hornby website pictures of)
the All 3rd are incorrectly positioned, but again has confirmed his order
for several more despite the fairly serious price hike.

All in all the one released so far looks nice, but are we looking at a case
of spoiling the ship for a ha'penny worth of tar?

No lighting in answer to Andy Sollis's question.

I note,  in another mailing group, that Nick Campling has noted a
dimensional error in the horizontal beading of the coaches.

Is your customer knowledgable as to what information John
Edgson (Isinglass) provided? He has a large amount of original
material on which he bases his drawings, and may have provided
this.

At any rate, he is reportedly also disappointed at the outcome.
I'll ask next time I see him, probably next month at Watford.

Sadly, the reported errors are distinctive enough that they'll
show up if the remaining types are tooled correctly, or if they
are marshalled next to a correctly hand built model.

Cheers,
Francis K.

The information was provided to my customer by Nick Campling who also has
access to similar material and has produced drawings of Gresley coaches.

These look very good. When are we going to have some top quality modern
stuff, ok the Mk1s, Mk3s look good, but they havent put as much effort in.
How about having some with peope inside???

I hope you realise that 1/2 a coach load or so of passengers will
probably cost as much as the coach, maybe more, especially if you want
'em painted, too. It's not the plastic that costs, it's the diework.

I have just recieved a couple of these in custard & cream and must say
that to me they are excellent and worth every penny. I took one out of
the box and just sat there looking at it for about 15 minutes. Thre
are even tiny gaps between the door grabs and the body. My only
problem is that I normally add a bit of weathering to my stock to make
it not look ex-works, but I'm not sure that I can do that to these, as
it might spoil their appearance.

Congratulations Hornby, on a wonderful product.
