Obviously a repaint, and not a very good one at that, all they seem to
have used is gloss.
Now, is my memory playing tricks, but I always thought that it was only
Mark 2s that received that version of the Scotrail livery?

AFAIK the only Mk1s to carry that livery were a couple of BGs

No, they were in the other 'Scotrail' livery, basically intercity
colours but with a blue stripe instead of red.
These coaches are in the Regional Railways style, much used on the North
Wales Coast and Blackpool Club trains, but with Scotrail branding.
