Has anyone come across a web site which lists all the models that Hornby
and Bachmann have produced? I am trying to locate some models in
liveries which arn't currently available, and thought that someone
somewhere must have made a list giving part numbers etc.

Well there is the guide I think is named "Ramsays Guide" which Pat
Hammond of MREMAG fame sells on his website:

http://www.mremag.demon.co.uk/hpsite/books/books.htm

But it costs £23! Not exactly a free website...

Ramsay's British Model Trains Catalogue - 4th Edition

For the price of one coach you get comprehensive listing of all the
leading British brands over the last 100 years.  It is right up to date
as of last summer.  The book is £22.95 post free (UK only).  Cheques in
Sterling to me at PO Box 199, Scarborough, YO11 3GT. Sorry, no credit
card facility.

The book is on my computer and is being revised and updated all the
time, ready for the next edition.  It is republished every two years.
The next edition will be out at the end of next year.

One would probably find the cost of acquiring the necessary catalogues
via Ebay would exceed the 23 quid cost of Pat's Ramsays Guide by a
substantial amount.

Also, the creation of the limited edition market is a comparatively
recent development and these are listed in Ramsays, but many items
don't make it into catalogues, especially when model runs are
commissioned by retailers etc.

Pat's book is very useful but if the OP wants to peruse catalogues it's
hardly the same thing, especially when it comes to illustrations.

You could just ask? Many people have catalogues going back many years.

I could, but I am one of those people who like to browse :S

Then I would suggest picking up old catalogues via E-Bay, they pop up often
enough to put a decent collection together fairly quickly.
