What do people think are the best RTR Electric boats out there. I have
been looking at a boat like the Traxxas Villain. Any comments?

That question is loaded, and it depends on you're budget! Next , for
what purpose are you going to use it but you said traaxas which will be
for pleasure only. I will stick out my nose and say this, that the
motor and esc and outdrive including prop are a low ok and you will get
by but when the pedal to the metal time comes be careful. I can tell
you of boats that are not rtr but when i give you suggestions on these,
you will have a real boat in the $375.00 range but you will have a REAL
mover. These boats are 21" and 22' lenght. This gives you something to
think about!

If you're in the market for a Villain make sure to eyeball the new 14v
version; much improved and with a sealed radio box.
It was unveiled at the Chicago show earlier this year.

refer to http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~atong/
and scroll down to "Boats, Yachts, Submarines, Warship Combat and Nautical
reviews" for links many suggested types and brands.
Scroll down to other sections to check out Motors, ESC, Radio Control
systems and how to make your own GRP hulls etc.
IMO the Academy electric power boats represent best $ value in ARTR.
