I think you are looking for what size will the model be. If so the 1:40
is the scale. If the size of the real boat is 22 meters, than the model
will be .55 meters. (22 / 40)

final size of the parts used in the model will be 40 times smaller, and
the actual size of the boat will be 60 centimetersReasoning is tgis;
real boat is 22 meters long....one tenth of that will be 2.2
meters....one 20th  would be half of that, or 1.1 meters, one half of
thata would be 55 centimeters (which is 1 fortieth on 22
meters........)So the answer is 55 centimeters

model    :    real    1          :     40    ?         :     22  the
model = ( 1 x 22 ) / 40  = 0.55 m                   = 0.55 x 100 = 55
cm

Length of model = 22 x 1 / 40  x 100 cm= 2200 / 40 cm= 220 / 4 cm= 55 cm
