Hi!
I modified a weed whacker engine to fit into my Dumas Deep V (5 ft) I'm not
sure of the model number. Anyhow, with the engine being significantly
larger than stock, how can I build a cover for the Engine/Electronics Bay?
I was thinking of making a mold out of Styrofoam, and then laying fiberglass
matting, then employing the whole mold. Is this the only way? Anyone know
of online stores which would sell generic covers?
Thanks for comments/suggestions

I installed a Hanson Zenoah in the 55" Dumas Scarab and had the same
problem. I sold the boat some time ago sbut may have a pic laying arround
somewhere. I wil see if I can find one.
I cut the section of floor from the existing hatch about 2" in front of the
rear seat off, I don't remember if the dash section is attached or not, if
it is you will need to trim it off too. I then cut the hatch cover just
behind the rear seat, there is a seam line there, moved the seat forward,
now it became the front seat. I then made up some plywood strips about 1"
wide, you may have too make them wider depending how tall your motor is, you
will cut them to length later. I assembled the hatch frame, attached the
original rear engine deck cover, attached the rear seat and dash to the
front section of the hatch frame, required some fitting. I then took the 1"
wide plywood strips and attached them on an angle on either side of the
hatch in the center, cut the plywood strips to the correct length to fit,
and fitted the front floor section on top. I went a little further and made
up some pieces to finish off the front and rear of the new raised engine
cover. I left a, maybe 1/2", slotted hole in the front and back just behind
the new front seat and in front of the original rear engine cover. The 1/2"
holes made for good ventalation for the engine.
Hope you can understand my explaination, if I find the pics I will let you
know.

Here's your chance to be creative. Modeling clay is a great way to shape the
ideal cover followed by fiberglass as you mention. For an excellent source
