I managed to break the aluminium mast support structure on a very old but
cherished yacht. So basically I need to fix two bits of ali' back together
again in such a way that they will not come apart. A friend says he thinks
(vaguely) that I could use some sort of soldering technique.
Grateful as always for suggestions.

Techno-weld is the trade name sold in the UK by
http://www.techno-weld.co.uk/product.html its made in USA
I have used it to "weld" a carburettor back on my OS model engine and it has
held up for three years and that was the first thing I tried and I am no
expert

Hello Paul,
It is a few years ago now since I last saw a young man that weld aluminium,
he made replacement fuel tanks for the BSA bikes. He used oil as a flux but
not all oils work, he was very successful in his work. The secret was to use
the right oil. Sorry that I have no furthur details, Brian
