Depends on what it is about the servo that fails.  Though I suspect it's the
gear train.  If that is the case, you might try one with metal gears.
Biggest problem you might have though is fitting a new servo to the mounts.

As you can see, there are several that should drop in place of the 148.  As
for price, Servo City is having a sale on Futaba right now.  Being in the UK
you may or may not want to check it out.

I replaced the Futaba S148 in my Marblehead with a Hitec HS605BB.

Improved performance markedly.
Standard size (slightly deeper) servo with strong helical cut resin gears.
94oz torque at
6V is twice the power of a Futaba S148 which the HS605 replaced. (metal
gears are expensive and wear out more quickly than resin).
If a standard replacement is sought, I recommend you check the latest Hitec
servos which have new heavy duty gear trains and other enhanced features.

You need a higher torque but std size servo, try the JP SO6 normally sells
for about GBP12 and generally available in the UK .  Distributor is J
Perkins.  You can waterproof it by filling the top up with Vasaline and
sealing the bottom and wire outlet with Evostick.  Works fine for me on my
Sweet.
