I am making a mould (mold) for a hull  to a US design and the
instructions require me to fair it off with water putty. Can anyoneone
help me with a UK equivalent, I have done a google on it and it seems
to be a proprietry material available only in US- would Pollyfiller or
soft sand car boby filler be suitable alternatives?

Why do I only see typos after posting? I meant easy sand car BODY
filler.

Believe Water Putty is also known as Plumber's Putty.  Plumber's Putty is
used to seal the metal drain to the sink and should be able to be purchased
in a hardware store.  The putty never quite hardens, thus giving a water
tight seal.

That shouldn't be a problem as long as the body putty is sealed after
fairing and a release agent (wax) applied if your making a fiberglass mold.

water putty is very similar to plaster of paris, the biggest difference
being the color.
