I want to build a small model electric speedboat, I just like the look of
wood.

Got the RC gear, speed control and a supply of 6 and 7 cell sub C packs
with fast chargers, I have been building and flying electric gliders for
several years.

I had a look around a few web sites and there are plenty of moulded
preformed kits around, and some wood ones too, but the wood ones seem to
be period warships etc.

Any suggestions on where I might find a suitable kit ?

Stuart.

runabouts.

browse

Thanks, those Dumas do look nice.

Would they provide instructions for the fitting of the electric gear, or
is it case or working it out for yourself ?

From what I hear, the dumas kits are a bit rough in the cut. However
every kit I have ever seen at the pond looks beautiful.

There are several reviews by a gentleman in Arizona for Dumas Chri
Craft boats here.

Dumas has a general layout for most of the running gear. See the "Duma
19' Racing Runabout" build up. Most people seem to outfit the boats t
their own preferance. I know that this particular thread was don
according to plans

Thanks for the link to that, a series of very informative threads.

The Dumas Chris Craft Utility looks like a favoured choice at the moment.

I have built the U.K. - Voodoo and others. The Mutineer of
Rumrunnerracing is  one of the best and the el lobo II of Ray Fuller is
another and the Electrafied of Climate Boats is another. I have 2
mutineers and 1 wooden El lobo II and 2 Electrafieds. All of these
boats are lazer cut and fit almost perfect. The prop for all of these
is a 632 prop. The mutineers are 6-8 cell, also the lobo II is 6-8
cell. The Electrafied is 6 celled. Forgot , the Electrafied can use a
plastic 534 also. The Electrafied could use 2 sets of strakes for
turning. Back to top, Voodoo, is a real pain to build and not worth the
time to build. I would like to add, the Dumas's are heavy. You like to
build! Ok, take a shallow Mutineer or a Lobo II and make a deep vee out
of them and make deadrise at 20 degrees. I used 1/32' ply for skin. I
take it you're from U.K., i would use those Viper motors with very good
rpm on 7 cells and a 432 prop on the shallow vee's.I don't steer people
wrong! One other boat i have is the UFO which can be seen on
finedesignrc .com. It is Black and one tough customer and if you want ,
i have pictures of mine1 have a good day!
