I wanted to get a RTR model for my first boat/ship RC.  I have asked here 3
times already and havn't gotten a response should I go elsewhere for help
with this?

All I've seen you ask is whether or not the Traxxas Villain EX was a
good choice for a 1st boat.  Maybe nobody knows?  I know I don't.

I'm new here so I may have missed your posts...as for your question it kinda
depends on what you're looking for. are looking for a vee type hull? I'm
given to understand that at the low range either the zig-zag racer or the
wave runner are fairly good choices(and can be used later to retrieve 'dead'
boats :) both are electric and you need only pick up some AA batts(8) (with
the wave runner one could charge the batt pack(boat) on the way home and
literally be ready go boating by the time you got home). I think that as you
go higher in price one needs to do a bit more work before hitting the waves.
case in point the 'hammer ep' you need purchase a 6-cell batt pack and(if
you don't own one) a charger. not to mention installing the pack(stick some
velcro(provided) on it) if you are looking for reviews www.rcboatmodeler.com
has some nice ones(also a forum/bbs). HTH
