I have a Kyosho Nitro Viper GT boat.

As supplied, the kit used back pressure from the muffler to pressurize the
gas tank, which in turn fed gas to the engine.  This works most of the time.
Unfortunately, it seems to be very unreliable and it continues to be a major
headache.

What other alternatives are there for getting gas to the engine?

If you are having trouble with the pressure from your muffler feeding fuel
you better check for restrictions in your fuel system or more likely a leak
that allows the pressure to escape. Take the fuel line loose from the carb
and the pipe, then pinch one of them closed while blowing in the other. Your
system should hold pressure, if it does not find the leak. Most racers use
pipe pressure to pressurize the system it is simple and reliable otherwise
racers would find another way.

Muffler pressure is VERY reliable. You have a problem
somewhere in the plumbing. You can check the lines by plugging and
trying to blow through. Also ,if you are using a clunk in your fuel
tank it could be doubled back. If the problem isn't in your lines
then look for a leak around the carb or back plate.
