Model Forum / Radio Controlled / Water Models / February 2007Kit/plans required
Looking for a short waterline length kit or (at a pinch) plans (beginner suitable) of a boat for my son. Had in mind 18" or so waterline, converted non R/C type, indeed non R/C would probably be preferable but as this is an R/C group... . Does anyone know of a supplier of said kits/plans? A local supplier would be preferable : Edinburgh, Scotland. Already e-mailed Marionville they say there is not much like that about nowadays. ASIDE :- For those with a long memory seem to remember a range Keil Kraft(remember them)had in the mid to late 70s, that included a PT boat and a cabin cruiser, 12~18" long or so. These had hard chine hulls and the hull was basically frames with sheet wood over (rather than planks) these were the type I had in mind.  SignatureLet's at least ask someone who's going to give us a slightly more intelligent opinion. However I was looking for something quite a bit smaller (3" by 12" balsa sheets,small electric motor, 12~18" waterline) and preferably semi scale to give him a sense of building the real thing. UPDATE :- Saw a kit for sale on eBay, there they had a picture of an E-Z-bilt boat kit this is the type of thing I am talking about. Unfortunately the one on eBay is attracting bids from collector types, rather than people who just want to build the model, so for a 16" W/L model the bidding is up to over £30, so far to expensive for what I want SignatureLet's at least ask someone who's going to give us a slightly more intelligent opinion.
