So, im 16 and am going to attempt to build my own 36"  boat. Its goanna
be made outta wood, since that is plentiful, and im fairly good at
working with it. I am using the plans on this website for a mono hull
boat. (the name of the file is Mono_Plans) I am using my own dimensions
with the plans as a reference. I am drawing it full scale right now.
But, i was wondering what kind of engine to use and i have no clue
about the drivetrain. This is my first boat ever, never even owned a
cheap plasic model. lol. This is going to be a long project i can
already tell. My main thoughts were to use a glow plug engine similar
to that used in RC cars. But, i dont know how to mount it, where to or
anything. I think i will be alright with the electronics. Oh, and it
will be a freshwater boat, in case you were wonderin.

For a hull of that size i would surgest a .45 nitro engine, as for the
engine mount you will have to install rails in the hull, witch should
be
in the plans, hardware such as engine mount, drive train, and rudder
can be purchased from hobby outlets that specialize in model race
boats, it can get quite expensive but anyway good luck and have
fun.
Regards,
John.
