kneedeep - 22 Dec 2007 02:12 GMT Gee, I joined this site to meet new people interested in the same thing I am -What do I find? Just the normal D********s whom are obviously life skills challenged and feel the need to criticise others in order to make themselves feel more adaquate. Get over it mate! If the fella has made his own RC boat I think he's alright-good spelling or not. That is what the site is about. LOSER-MOVE ON!!
As for the post- I am sorry I live so far away or I would be there. I live 350ks away- The good thing about that though is I have unlimited unrestricted lakes within kilometers of home. bad side - I too have to go on my own.

sea hawk westoz - 24 Dec 2007 14:28 GMT hi knee deep .& dave (also steve) gee guys its good to find that there are normal people out there with the same intrest as me in this orsome r/c boats. well .i just perchased a 26 cc sikk. motor (4hp, 5hp with tuned pipe(if i can aford one.LOL). that im going to put in one of my cat hulls ive got hopping it should go nice then. and in febuary im going to look At biulding a mono hull ither a zipkit 47inch vee esy. or try doing my own hull. ive been trying to fine ennyone in perth with a mold for big r/c hull about 47 50 inch. well ill keep bashing around on the lakes around here. also dose enny one know enny good idears for making some sort of boat retreval sistom for boats that stop in the middle of a lake that you dont realy wana go for a swim in or dont have a dingy sirfski to paddel out on . i was thinking about making a small eletric boat only for recovery . so if ennyone hase enny i dears that would be great.
** kneedeep ; where in wa are you and what lakes have you got around you . ar you in large scall r.c ** dave p ; are you looking at making a cruser . why dont you go or look for boat plans of a full size boat like you are wanting to build and then just reduse the plans to sute the size boat you are wanting to build. well i dont know if that was enny help or not.lol.
but im going now .merry ex-mass to ennyone where ever you are . and im going to get back into my shed as i also race 1/4scaler/c speedway and have a car that i need to finnish. well looks like ill still be heading out alone on the lakes doing laps. but soon with a even faster boat or boats, lol:cool:

John - 25 Dec 2007 08:57 GMT If you want to use an electric rc boat for rescue you can either have it tow a line that you can circle around your stalled boat and snag or use rare earth magnets (you need to fit a magnetic attachment to your big boat).
I find that most of the times my boat needs to be rescued it is from a flip over so towing it in via an electric boat wouldn't work too well.
You could attach your tow line to a fishing rod so once you drive it out with the electric boat and snag it up, you reel the lot in like a big fish. :)

sea hawk westoz - 25 Dec 2007 13:38 GMT :) thank you john that sounds like a good idear .ive got lots of old fishing rods and reals laying about. i think ill just perchase a cheepo small electric boat and use it for that . cheers m8.

kneedeep - 26 Dec 2007 02:46 GMT hey guys, good to hear from you, Yes im into large scale RC anything and have finally finished my boat so i can move on to the next project. I live in Mt. Barker which is surrounded by a number of lakes suitable for RC boats. Its RC boat heaven - sorry - am i boasting? If you want hulls for big boats try going to Discount Hobby Supplies in Willetton. they have boating enthusiasts on staff and have several different hulls available. I have one of thier hulls - a fifty something inch "apache" mono which i have found to be a reasonable product. as we spend a lot of time at the beach my next boat is an ocean going 1/4 scale "noosa cat" with two zenoah out boards of my own creation.I am going to have to make my own mould for the hull - which is really no big deal once you have seen the process. I hope this boat will create a whole new direction for RC boating an can't wait to mix it with the surf. another idea i'm looking at is to use it to "launch" bait and tackle when salmon fishing. I'm heading to my shed for some post christmas "relaxation" so i'll chat with you lot again

sea hawk westoz - 28 Dec 2007 03:24 GMT how do you find there prices there at discount hobbys. the new owner has upped all the prices.its far chepper getting things on line now if you shop around and know the right place to go. so how much did you pay for your appachy 50`` mono hull. i was talking to the guy that makes the lawless outboard leg and can order direct from him. thay look great idd like to see your cat with two out boards on it . so are you making the legs yourself from scratch. . well im just wating to get my new motor and then got to work out what to put it in or on. and what to make next.

kneedeep - 28 Dec 2007 04:37 GMT Hey, Howsit, Just returned from days boating at lake Proorerecup with mixed results. As boat is just finished, small hull aspect issue arose. I spent the day tuning and will have to make mods in the workshop. Lake was full with bloody Skiboats and terrorists so conditions were not right. (however quite a bit of "air" livened up the day). I have not bought much from DHS so I cant talk too much about thier pricing - In fact I have only known them since new owners- I prefer to fabricate any thing I do from scratch...its just the way i am. From memory I think my hull cost about $180 My Outboard motor is in development however I have all plans in CAD form and am working on the castings now. I intend these to be 1/4 scale and to look exactly like a Mercury racing outboard with oil lubricated mitre geared shaft drive, watercooled Zenoah ,electric start and power trim - still a ways off yet - but one must keep busy. The quarter scale "Noosa Cat" mould i will start when im a bit further down the track with motors. I am working towards selling the outboards in unmachined casting/drive shaft kit form to the completed bolt on item. It will be interesting to see the response. However I dont forget I've only just begun and i have a lot of work ahead of me before that happens. I think I'm just a "Compulsive Fidgiter" and I like to "go where no mans been before" there's not much left to invent these days. Any way, Too much time on the Computer means too little time in the Shed so I must get going
Speak to you again, Kneedeep

Jim - 29 Dec 2007 15:53 GMT Wow! Please keep me posted directly regarding your Outboard Motor. VERY interested!
> Hey, > Howsit, [quoted text clipped - 25 lines] > Speak to you again, > Kneedeep Jim - 29 Dec 2007 15:52 GMT The prices for the products from CHINA have gone up! The world's currency against the Chinese Yuan has gone down! Labor has gone up in China! Couple all of this with the GREED of some Chinese manufacturers and it won't be long and the Chinese products will be TOO expensive! Problem is, we were all spoiled by the Chinese prices. It is time for reality to set in.
Where did you find the Lawless Outboard Leg? I'm interested!
BTW, I'm in the USA.

DaveP - 30 Dec 2007 11:19 GMT Hey see hawk I have had a scratch around and found a good drawing or two but it is going to take a back seat as I have got my grubby little paws on a high performance petrol 23cc motor with clutch (17 000 RPM) so it's a tunnel hull first. As for retrieval a wetsuit goggles and flippers or as you say a small electric I'll have a look and see if I can find something for you.
Hope you all had a marvelous Christmas and a high speed new year.:)

sea hawk westoz - 30 Dec 2007 12:19 GMT hi dave p, well it sounds like you will be getting out there among it . so where are you based.
well jam i got in contact with fred lawless. i found his email from a thred in one of the r/c forums taking about r/c outboards. if you google r/c outboards you should find somthing regarding it and the decution about it all. ill try and find it for you. if you pm me your email address ill try and find his email add ress for you.
well i think its more the shops are making and trying to keep up with rent and bills so the prices all go up . but i know for myself i can get the boats you are talking about jim . direct from them for $200. complet for 1 meter hulls 26 cc motors i know there just simple motors and hulls but there ok .as the hobby shops sell the same boats for 699. to 1200. in there shops so i realy wonder who is making the $$$ there .lol. i know by saying this it will piss shop owners of but if you dont shop around you never know.
well i know that im going to look into this winter biulding a hull and plug for a mono hull of about 55 to 60 inchs long. and see what happens.
well every one have a good and safe new years. and keep those trigger fingers on full throttle:cool:

DaveP - 31 Dec 2007 08:55 GMT Yo Sea Hawk I'm based in Port Elizabeth South Africa and , as I am sure u picked up the boating guys here are not the easiest group to get into , you have to conform Now what is the point in that? I think a lack of imagination and fear of being ridiculed is their main crutch so I don't fit in. I have been told that I will never get a 72 inch to get to 100mph and the chaps laugh but *it will be done* (crack of lightning and thunder in the back ground) . Anyway to all a safe and groovy new year and remember alcohol and petrol do not mix--can be very costly so drive safe:D :D

gavin de vries - 22 Feb 2008 07:31 GMT Hi Sea Hawk Westoz
Depending on how big the lake or pond is where you are boating,I have seen that a fishing rod with 4 large hooks (Blunted),and soldered back to back, like a grapling hook and a float apox 1 metre from the end works quite well.the Guy was castig a good 50 metres or so.
Cheers
