Hi Everyone,
This is my first attempt:

I have a question about a GWS Speed control I bought recently call a "
Navigator" F112.
My Question is that having connected this I find that I only have a
slow to fast control on the Forward montion, where as I only have Full
speed of nothing in reverse, is this right or is there a problem
somewhere.

Where you from? Damn that is one powerful ESC you found there:D
My first impression is you have it hooked up with forward running the
vehicle in reverse.
What motor are you using and what are you running this in?

Hi,
I am from England.

The boat is a Huntsman 20" model. I have installed a 600 motor
and are using a 8.4volt 7 cell 1700 pack.
I have tried changing rev for forward that makes no difference.

Do you have instructions for this ESC? I am concerned about the motor
that you have in it, if memory serves me I think that that is rated for
nothing bigger than a 540 motor. That will not give you your current
problem, but it would heat up and burn out the ESC.
Things to look at, what is the transmitter that is being used? Do you
have the trim pots on the transmitter set to neutral?
If you get a slow speed and then fast speed while trying to go
forward I am thinking the following:
1) Is the motor too big, is it drawing too much from the speed
control that you are actually getting slow where there should be 50%
and full where it should be 100% out put? Take a smaller motor (
400-540) and connect it to the out put leads from the ESC without
altering anything else. If you get variable speed with the other motor,
then there is an incompatability with the motor/ESC set up.
2) Is the ESC used? I have had two car ESC's fail on me where I had
partial control forward and only full speed in reverse. This is very
common ( well not really common, but happens when you burn out a relay
on the reverse settings of a ESC that utilizes a relay for forward to
reverse), when you have a ESC that utilizes a relay to change from
forward to reverse. The relay is a little black box, usually setting
next to the voltage regularotors ( mosfets). It should make a "click"
when you shift from forward to reverse. If you have one of these, check
to see if there is power through it utilizing a voltmeter. It should
produce a constant out put voltage in either forward or reverse.
These are my two most obvious answers.

Another possiblity is that some ESC have a brake function.
If the brake is set too far back, or not at the neutral postion, then
the ESC will go from forward to neutral, to brake. to full reverse

Hi,
I'm really trying to get instructions for this speed control fromGWS so
far I haven't had any luck, I am going to send them an email to see if
they can send some.
It says on the control suitable for motors from 400 to 850 so my 600
would seem to be within those limits.
It works perfect in forward its just that in reverse the stick goes all
the down to the bottom then you get full speed  in reverse.
some friends say that doesn't really matter as reverse is only normally
used as a brake or to pull out of trouble.

+Navigator+F112&hl=en&ie=UTF-8

it also adds lists the following:

>5 v/0.8 A, 5-10 celler, inställning via pottar, vikt: 66 g

All up translation:

112 amp max forward current
56 amp max reverse current
0.014 ohm in-circuit resistance
50 Hz pulse frequency (very low, not nice on the motor)
ESC supply voltage:  5 to 10 cells (6 to 12 volt)
BEC output:  5 volts, 0.8 amps (enough for the receiver and a medium
size rudder servo but not a lot more)
unit weight (not including wires & plugs) : 66 grams (a bit over 2
ounces)

hope this helped someone

The performance you describe is normal.  This is a budget s/c and the
reverse performance is all or nothing.
