Victor V-32 vs Thunder Tiger Victoria

While I have sailed full sized boats for many years I have no
experience with the r/c model type.  I'm looking for something which
involves some construction, sails well and (of course) not excessively
expensive (we're talking Cdn $ here).

Following some reading and research, I have narrowed it down to the
V-32 kit version (1st choice) and the Victoria.  Both are the same
price.  Aligning myself up with others in the area is not necessary -
there are no other r/c boats anywhere around here. (but depending on
what I do some other local sailors may be interested).  I understand
that the V-32 can handle heavier winds and chop - a factor around
here.

Also, a dealer I contacted suggested the Tamiya Adspec Sport radio
which comes with a S3801 sail arm servo.

So any recommendations?  I'd appreciate any comments or advice you are
willing to share.

By the way I had also examined the Northwind 36, Star class 30 and Sea
Dolphin 770.

Thanks,

Jim

The Victoria Mk 2 is nor on the market -
refer to the new yachts, especially the Voyager at  =
http://www.acehobby.co.nz/ossb2/root/Newproduct/ThunderTigerYacht.asp

The 3801 servo is way to big to fit in the Victoria or any similar sized
models, the best sail servo is the very high powered yet standard sized
Hitec HS605BB or recent replacement the HS635BB. FWIW The Hitec 2 Ch radios
systems are sold complete with the servo fittings and ratchet for the sail
stick which appear to be additional cost items with other systems.
Try the Hitec HS422 servo for your rudder, it is a little more responsive
and powerful than standard servos. More especially because it has dual
oilite bearings which prevent the slop that develops in servos which rely on
the servo case as a bearing for the output shaft. i.e. provides for
straighter runs, and for me, higher pointing into wind be it with a
Victoria, Seawind or my Marblehead.

For a great deal of  information on the web regarding different boats and
yachts & FAQ, refer to http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~atong/ and scroll down

You should look at another Victor kit which is the Soling One meter.
