running a tuned pipe right close to hull ??

hi guys a nother day a nother question.
guys im just trying to work out how far away it is best or how
close to a fibreglass hull can you let a tuned pipe sit when its
mounted inside a hull .
the pipe if i go to set this boat up the large part of the cone tuned
pipe will be sitting right up nearly agenst the hull. im running a
cooling flange on the header and also water cooled tuned pipe but its
not a wet water pipe.
is this going to be to hot. and should i then look at a rap to
senture header insted . or is there somthing that i can use to line the
hull . or pipe ???????

with a fiberglass hull, i had the same problem, so what i did (if you
have room) was take a few pieces of balsa wood and put it close to
where your pipe is closest to your hull, and then run a strip of
muffler wrap or "muffler bandage" to hold the wood to your hull.. the
wrap can be found at any hardware/auto store.. it will deflect ALOT of
heat, and what does get through will be absorbed my the Balsa..
if your hull is oily, the tape wont stick, so use rubbing alchohol to
get gas/oil/etc off first.
