Field battery checkers - waste of money?12 Apr 2005 16:35 GMT14
A number of club members have started using Hitec Battery Checkers at
the field and using the readings to decide whether there is enough
pack capacity to risk another flight. The meter appears to be a
voltmeter presumably with some electronics to give an expanded display

This might be off topic but
there's a lot of experts that
visit this news group that could

6 volt query12 Apr 2005 13:13 GMT9
I can recall references to people using 5 cells  and I'm thinking of
switching from 4 to 5 cells for Rx and servos.
However a fully charged 4 cell normally gives about 5.5 volt and I would
therefore expect a 5 cell to give almost 7 volts.
OS 120 muffler12 Apr 2005 02:09 GMT1
I obtained an OS 120 but the muffler can's threaded end is missing, i.e. the
end that faces the engine. What do you people suggest I do other than taking
my wallet for a stroll at the LHS?
TIA
New at Toledo12 Apr 2005 00:14 GMT5
This is the umpteenth time I have made the trek to Toledo.  More ARFs
and few if any new kits. Being a builder myeslf, I hate to see the
fewer and fewer kits on the market. However one can hardly build a kit
and do the covering and all that for what some of the very nice ARF's
F27 Stryker  - Park Zone  - Battery Help11 Apr 2005 22:22 GMT4
Hi this comes with a 8.4Volt battery,  I have 5 some 7.4Volt ones from
my Hobbey Zone Aerobird.  Has anyone tried to fly an F27 with a 7.4
volt, and if yes did you get enough power to take off ok?  I am a bit
hesitant to try it as only just repaired and flying again after a bad
This Looks Like The Right Place11 Apr 2005 15:57 GMT107
I don't know where to start. What would be fun is searching remote
regions for meteorites. I've been kicking around ideas to myself for
applications of what I guess ya'll call UAV's.
I know real planes better than RC's.  I've been told for years to do
Control line airplanes for crashing?11 Apr 2005 14:06 GMT5
This isn't quite radio control, but it's the closest newsgroup I could
think of. Please bear with me.
I recently heard about some people that work with museums (and the
like) and kids. They have the kids build simple airplanes from wood.

the first flight attempt in spring ended in deseaster. Instead of
Re: new & need advise10 Apr 2005 14:49 GMT13
I just got a Top Flite F4U-1A Corsair (early edition) and am looking for
info on good online supplies and advice on building and flying it. I plan
using retracts and flaps, a three or four blade prop and a few of the
extra's. This will be the third balsa kit I've built so I may ...
Ed Creger10 Apr 2005 05:46 GMT3
Hi Ed,
I'm getting ready to move and I found the owners manual for the Dave
Brown software I sent you.  Do you have any use for it?  If not, I'll
just dump it.  It's only a little 17 page manual.
Foam Curve Cutting Sanding Fiberglass09 Apr 2005 16:08 GMT5
I'm back to bug ya'll.  After reading a million web pages I'm still
kinda lost. Couldn't resist dumpster diving some big white ahhh bead
type Styrofoam. Must be square foot minimum with extensions to make
like a thick Z by 3-4 feet and 3 of them , could have got a whole

Is this supposed to be a glider with an OS sticker on it?  Why are the
ailerons inboard?  Am I missing something here?
