A Plane to travel with?24 Sep 2005 11:32 GMT3
I'm a newbie. I just got my wings two months ago, using a Nexstar, and
have graduated to my second plane (A "Somethin' Extra" with plenty of
expo and rates set to 1/4 of factory recommended so it behaves like a
pussycat. I recommend it).

I'm looking to resurrect my 15 year Great Planes Spectra. The motor and
rcvr batteries, of course, are shot. Rather than buy a separate rcvr
battery can I buy just a BEC to use in it's place? If so can someone
suggest a supplier?

Purolater will do it for $145+, but I seem to recall hearing about
other companies.

Advice for newbie?22 Sep 2005 05:15 GMT7
I posted earlier about my adventures with my new Yellow Bee ($30 @
HarborFreight).  I bought the thing yesterday on an impulse and today I
see many of you saying this is a terrible plane for a newbie.  I would
like to spend the absolute least amount possible for a decent plane

GP Super Sportster 4021 Sep 2005 23:04 GMT15
I can fly a trainer (Seagull Arising Star) with confidence and now want to
move to a low-wing model.  Is the Great Planes Super Sportster 40 MkII ARF
too ambitious?  Any other advice / info on this model worth knowing?
Thanks!
Balsa variation20 Sep 2005 20:41 GMT10
There I was snug in the shed, door closed against the wind.
The scroll saw was `thrumming' away and I was making good progress
cutting out the ribs for the wing of the Super 60 that is going to be
a building project during the coming dark nights.
