| About kits and arfs and scratchbuilding | 22 Oct 2005 14:49 GMT | 2 |
What we fly or build might depend on what we want. If you live in a remote place and there are no hobby shops within a day or two drive, that is one thing. In a town of any size there will be a hobby shop. and there is always the U.S. Mail to bring parts. I read here about how ...

| Orange Antifreeze for Cleaning | 22 Oct 2005 04:03 GMT | 8 |
I have heard that the green antifreeze used with a crock pot will clean up an engine pretty well. I am about to give it a try but noticed that the antifreeze that I have in the garage is colored orange instead of the older green type. Has anyone every used the orange kind with ...

| XPlane with camera and drop chute etc | 22 Oct 2005 00:00 GMT | 1 |
Has anyone tried out the XPlane with camera/bomb/parachute etc attachments? I was looking for a good first plane and was looking at the XPlane at www.givemegifts.co.uk but I don't know how it compares for someone with no flying experience?

| Good First Kit? | 21 Oct 2005 22:06 GMT | 31 |
I'd like some suggestions for what might make a good first kit to try to build. I just started flying this year and I built my first ARF, a Tiger Stick .40. I enjoy flying something I helped put together, but I'm a bit intimidated at

| Propeller chord - what effect does it have? | 21 Oct 2005 16:56 GMT | 12 |
This is more a question about aerodynamics, rather than models specifically... What effect does the width of a propeller (chord) have on the aerodynamics? Why are props for electric planes usually

| That terrifying sound before the silence. Migrating my F27 guts to a new fuselage. | 20 Oct 2005 17:18 GMT | 10 |
It took hundreds of flights and 4 months, but I critted out. With brief lapse in situational awareness, I corkscrewed my stryker into th ground. Knowing the law of entropy, I picked up a replacement fuselag a few weeks ago.

I am new to RC flying and I am looking for a trainer to begin with, I am looking for a fairly small 4 channel RC trainer to be built, and was looking at the Robbe Charter (NOT the ARF) version. On the website it states that it has 3 channels, Power, Ailerons, Elevator, but the .pdf ...

| SuperTigre Glow plugs any good? | 19 Oct 2005 23:05 GMT | 23 |
I have been using OS#8 in my OS engines and have had no hassles - I need some spares and noted that Super Tigre equivalents are much cheaper - so the question is whether they are as good as the OS plugs or not. I don;t want hassles so am OK to pay more for the OS if there is a

| Flight sim? | 19 Oct 2005 20:21 GMT | 4 |
I've been away from the hobby for a few years and just joined this group today. So excuse me if this subject has been beaten to death. I'm looking for a flight sim that realistically depicts some of the current popular models, both fixed wing and heli. Are there any alternatives to

I am looking for a controller with two channels controlled by one joy stick. I can find controllers that have two sticks - one left-right and the other up-down but I want the two functions combined in one joy stick as would be the case in a cockpit control. Does anyone know if ...
