Just had to try it20 Jul 2006 12:40 GMT7
I have seen the photos and articles in Aviation Modeller International.
They always appear in the Aero Modeller section under `Vintage'.
The people in the photos are always flying their models under blazing
sunshine and fantastic blue skies.

Does anyone have the balance point (from behind the LE) for this airplane? I
finally pulled out my REALLY old model and am in the process of repairing
it. The CG is all I need.
Brushless motors & Li-Poly19 Jul 2006 20:18 GMT16
I am just "getting into" Brushless motors and Li-Poly cells.  However,
something is puzzling me.
Looking at spec sheets from hobby stores, it appears that:-
1) The recommended prop size quoted for a 2-cell LI-Poly pack is

O.S. 91S II / Hangar-9 PTS ??19 Jul 2006 03:52 GMT1
I'm looking at the Hangar 9 PTS P-51 Mustang (ARF version). The engine
in the RTF version swings a 10.5x4 3-blade prop. I know the .91 Surpass
is oversized per the 'recommended' engine size, but... is this too much
engine for this plane? I've read in other posts the Revolution ...
Hawker Hunter destroyed in Oregon19 Jul 2006 02:23 GMT3
A recently restored Hawker Hunter, one of the most beautiful military
jets of all time, IMHO, crashed and was destroyed today at 4:35pm at the
Oregon International Airshow.  While it appears that the pilot did not
have time to eject, nobody else appears to have been hurt on the

Flying watermelon?18 Jul 2006 22:16 GMT12
I am thinking of designing a flying object in the shape somewhat like a
watermelon with and open front end and the rear end. Install an
electric brushless motor inside with a 10 inch prop. By tilting the
object at an positive angle with the built in elevator, lift with be

homemade campac/clonepack for FF6, not FF818 Jul 2006 14:40 GMT2
I´ve run out of model memory on my thrusty Futaba Field Force 6. It has 6
memory places, but I really would like a lot more.
I don´t have the money right now to buy an 8 channel transmitter that can
take campac memory modules. There are a lot of wonderful DIY memory projects
Harmon Rocket18 Jul 2006 13:26 GMT3
i) is the Seagull ARTF Harmon Rocket all it's trumpeted to be in the mags?
I've fancied building one for a while but you couldn't build one for the
going street price of about £85-£90
ii) I've 50 or a 65 Saito sat idle - which is most suited?
Sad news from USA18 Jul 2006 05:26 GMT3
A Hawker Hunter crashed at the Oregon International Airshow in
Hillsboro, Oregon, USA at 4:35PM.  Witnesses saw it Dutch rolling, then
stalling.  No reports of the pilot's ejecting, so he is assumed lost.
No loss of life on the ground, although the Hunter set three houses ablaze ...
