Programming ESC28 Feb 2007 18:42 GMT5
This is my first foray into brushless electrics, I've built a foamy YAK with
a brushless motor which draws a max of 18amps. I'm using a 1100ah 3 cell
lipo
I bought a 30amp ESC from hong Kong, but there were no instructions on
Difference between Max-S and Max-H28 Feb 2007 15:58 GMT20
Anyone know the difference between the OS Max-S and Max-H engines? I think S
is for Stunt - not sure what H means.
Spektrum Modules Available28 Feb 2007 02:47 GMT14
Hi Troops, JR/Spektrum is about to release (early April) 2.4GHz module for
JR radios *and* Futaba, Hitec.  IMHO, that's a class move. I can *feel* the
difference ;-)) Go here for the complete poop.

need to find where i can get model restraint27 Feb 2007 23:20 GMT16
There was a restraint advertised somewhere a few weeks ago which looked like
a big skewer and a u piece at the top with some rubber protection around it.
Sold for about 10ukp I think.
Does any one know where I can get one of these here in the UK. I feel sure
Fuel tank orientation27 Feb 2007 18:59 GMT1
Is there any reason why a standard rectangular fuel tank would not work with
the wide dimension across the fuselage rather than vertical. It is just that
there often seems to be a chance of better location of the tank to the
needle valve.

Have the forums been down for a couple of days or is it a problem at my
end ?

Why methanol instead of ethanol (or proponal or butanol, pentanol, etc.)?26 Feb 2007 02:14 GMT21
So, another of those "but why" questions. Why methanol? Why not ethanol
instead? Or an even heavier alcohol? Methanol is poisonous - 4 ounces will
kill a man. 4 ounces of ethanol, OTOH, and life is good :).
The only reason I can think of is that we produce and use a lot of ...
5 minute epoxy question25 Feb 2007 17:53 GMT14
My wife bought some "5 minute epoxy", sets in 5 minutes, handling strength
in 15 minutes, full strength in one hour. Question - is this stuff as strong
as the stuff that takes a half hour to set and has to dry overnight for full
strength?
Tower 6XM Trainer System24 Feb 2007 20:11 GMT2
The instruction manual for Tower's 6XM (looks like a rebranded Futaba 6EX)
radio calls for removing the transmitter's Rf module or crystal when using
it as the student (slave) in addition to turning it's switch off.  This
isn't necessary with my Airtronics transmitters.
Why castor oil?24 Feb 2007 13:56 GMT31
Here is a good question - why is castor oil preferred in some engines? Cox,
for example, their fuel was 25% castor oil. Granted that 30 years ago they
didn't have the synthetic oil that they have today, but I understand that
even today for the little Cox engines you still want to ...
Monokote hinges24 Feb 2007 04:11 GMT12
Several years ago I had to replace a wing on my Big Stik 40.  I bought
a foam wing and partially sheeted it.  I didn't feel good about making
slots in the small trailing edge balsa for hinges so I made hinges
from the Monokote that I was using for covering.  The wing was white
