Converting RC engine to CL?19 May 2007 05:53 GMT10
My latest acquistion is a used  Super Tigre .40 RC engine.
Fired it up & it screams! :-)
I'm contemplating running it on a CL aircraft.
Is there any special tricks/mods to turn it into a CL engine?
Water-based polyurethane??19 May 2007 05:19 GMT4
I'm painting a model with latex paint -- first try.  The latex isn't fuel
"proof" for glow fuel, so I need to cover it with a clear coat.  I was
thinking of using Polycrylic (thinking that was a water-based polyurethane
since its cans are right next to the oil-based polys at the ...

Cox .04918 May 2007 22:37 GMT1
I have a used Cox .049 RC motor.  The throttle is an
aluminum ring that rotates around the cylinder,
incrementally blocking the exhaust ports.  A previous owner
enlarged the ports in this ring, making the throttle
Feeling better now18 May 2007 13:20 GMT1
I took the little planes out to the field this evening, a Goldberg
Eaglet 50 built last summer with my son and the Royal Coachman I just
finished.  The weather was perfect and I was able to do a lot of nice
touch and goes with the field to myself.

More SuperrHots Fun! Throws, more engines, radios, angst...18 May 2007 03:40 GMT38
Pilots,
I'm looking for control throw info. I'm guessing 1/2" elevator, less
on ailerons, dual rates set for half those values. Max on rudder.
My recollection is that the detachable wing Midwest SH is a bit of a
Identity of aircraft please?17 May 2007 23:30 GMT1
Browsing around on eBay I came across a photo of a light twin Argus
engined aircraft - item 180118617596 - and cant remember seeing one
before, looks to be pre-WW2 and was possibly obsolete by the time things
got going, anybody know what the beast is?

Spitfire plans wanted16 May 2007 19:37 GMT1
I'm attempting to scratch build a Mk I Spitfire to 1/10th scale.
I need plans that have accurate fuselage cross-sections as I intend to
hot-wire cut them from styrofoam.
Where can I buy such plans?
prop balancing question15 May 2007 23:26 GMT11
I have an (overpriced) Dubro prop balancer. I have a nylon prop, 6x3, that I
believe to be out of balance because of the vibration that occurs when the
engine tops out. I took an old wood prop, balanced it, mounted it on the
engine, and it was smooth as can be. I put the nylon ...
