25 yr old solarfim still works!31 Dec 2007 20:02 GMT8
Had some rolls of hideous transparent blue and purple for a pilot glider kit
(that's close to the same age). It's blotchy  yet still sticks and shrinks.
Planes gonna be ugly yet still be a flier! Pat
Kudos to Horizon (long)31 Dec 2007 16:57 GMT8
I know that not every time is an experience with a distributor or
manufacturer a pleasant occasion. Also, I realize that when it isn't a good
experience we often hear about it. But when service is exceptional I think
we should also hear about it. I'm sure I'll hear of the other ...

Bioethanol water mix (e.g. overproof Rum or vodka e.g. Stroh 80) as an engine fuel?26 Dec 2007 16:38 GMT21
Have any tried to use a bioethanol water mix (e.g. overproof Rum or
vodka e.g. Stroh 80) as an (model) engine fuel? It might also be named
bioethanol? The engine should be made of corrosion resistant like
materials (e.g. ceramics):
NiMH Charging25 Dec 2007 15:21 GMT8
I have been told that the slow chargers that come with radios will not
charge NiMH packs sufficiently. Is this correct? If it is, will a
Sirius Peak charger suffice? If not, what do you use? I want to
replace my Futaba NiCD transmitter pack with a NiMH pack but won't do

Glow vs. electric motor equivalency24 Dec 2007 08:02 GMT6
I' m sort of starting over in modeling.  My last experiences
were in the late 1950s when control line models were
finished with dope and silkspan, Ambroid was the best glue,
and control line flying was king (only a few "older" folks
Why does my prop nut keep coming loose?23 Dec 2007 20:54 GMT19
Good Evening.  I can't seem to understand why the prop nut keeps coming
loose on my .40 FX on my Super Sportster.  I tighten the prop nut as
tight as I can with my crescent wrench, before mounting the spinner (a
plastic one with an aluminum disk), but it seems that about every ...
2.4 GHz - Is there a limit?23 Dec 2007 19:26 GMT25
When using Futaba 2.4 GHz is there a limit to the number of models that
can be in the air at the same time?
Apparently the system changes frequency every 2 milliseconds.
How many frequencies are there to change between?

new blog for builders23 Dec 2007 12:21 GMT1
I've taken the first steps on a new blog for folks who build, or want to
learn how to build, average normal model planes.
I'm not into putting scale panel lines or thousands of rivets on a
plane, and I'm not into ARFs.  I don't really do scale planes, except I
Charging Questions23 Dec 2007 09:35 GMT16
I am a total newbie and I have several questions about
batteries and charging.  I use both NIMH and LIPO packs.  I
am currently using a Triton Jr. DC charger run off a 7 amp
gel cell.  However, I have to re-charge the gel cell between
Ace Digipulse23 Dec 2007 07:19 GMT3
I have an Ace Digipulse but no power supply.  Does anyone know what the
output voltage of the power supply should be.  Now this is the Digipulse,
not the Super Digipulse. Don't know if it makes a difference.
