I'm looking for a good inexpensive arc welder.  I was wondering if there
were any suggestions or better yet any thoughts of making one from scratch.

I recently purchased a kit to make up a powered
hacksaw from Blackguards. The kit is an over-priced heap of
poor-quality junk. It's going in the bin. The main casting
at 7 1/2 pounds is too heavy to walk down to Trading

I saw this kit today for the first time at one of my local hobby shops and had
a chance to pen the box and look at the parts.  Overall, it seems to be nicely
molded, though the fabric surfaces and stringers are a bit overdone, as seems
