| Speaking of P-47s... | 27 Apr 2004 18:18 GMT | 4 |
I've been thoroughly reading the P-47 articles in the past two SAMi's and one thing struck me. The 56th FG seems to have been very inventive in their use of paint. I get the feeling that no P-47 in the group was plain ol' Olive Drab over Neutral Grey.

| Chrome silver 12.7mm Brownings on P-47s .. ? | 27 Apr 2004 18:03 GMT | 4 |
Ehm ... Probably a dumb question, but I have to ask: Why do the barrels of the wing-mounted 12.7mm Browning machine guns on the P-47 look like they've been painted in chrome silver?

| U-boat crew in 1/72 | 27 Apr 2004 07:23 GMT | 3 |
Just got my little guys (six in all) from Hecker and Goros, and they are stunning. The detail is quite amazing (you can see the flying eagle and wreath on the cap badges) and the faces are characters, not caricatures. If you want some little folk on your Revell U-boat's bridge, then ...

| Interesting Books! | 26 Apr 2004 22:57 GMT | 9 |
When ever the chance arises to delve into an old book store, I always ask the question if they have any old engineering books. A trip into the top end of Blackpool gave one of those opportunities this weekend. Five books picked up

| WW II Moveis | 26 Apr 2004 22:43 GMT | 209 |
I am a nut over WW II movies and I have just finished watching "Midway" for the umpteenth time. I consider this the best WW II movie ever made. What are your opinions about films covering from WW I to the present? I subscribe to Netflix who claim to have a 18000 volume of DVDs for ...

Evenin' All, I've been offered an Elliott bench pillar drill. It will be about a 300 mile round trip to go and see it and the chap who has it now has never run it under power as he has not got 3 phase so can't comment on it's performance.
