I'm a noob at the lathe and milling thing and am thinking of buying a small one - i thought it would be good first to read a book on the subject. Any recommendations? Cheers,

| Chronos are moving | 11 Aug 2004 19:53 GMT | 6 |
Those of you who know and love Chronos may be interested to know that they're moving to Dunstable next month. I dropped by today and found (amongst other stuff) their 3 and 4 quid "as seen" rummage boxes.

| Amount of paint used by airbrush | 11 Aug 2004 19:41 GMT | 8 |
I've been doing some experimenting with an airbrush, a cheap Badger 200. One thing that bugs me is the amount of paint it uses: I can hardly paint a single 1:144 aircraft with one tinlet of Humbrol paint (suitably thinned). This means frequent refills of the airbrush, usually when ...

| airmodel Horten IX, how poor? | 11 Aug 2004 06:55 GMT | 3 |
I'm building a 70's Airmodel vacform of Horten IX/Gotha 229. There are ridicilously few parts, of which only the two flying wing halves are useful, the instructions are also comical. I see some the more obvious shape flaws: the canopy doesn't resemble

| Pre WWI Russian and Japanese Battle Cruisers | 11 Aug 2004 05:52 GMT | 6 |
Just finished a reading a book about the Great White Fleet, the Russian Baltic fleet that sailed around the Horn, ( and through the Suez) to get it self wiped out by the Japaneses around 1905. Got me wondering if any body had ever kitted the dreadnoughts of that era.

| Koester Kits and GHQ paints | 11 Aug 2004 03:21 GMT | 12 |
Back 10 or 15 years agon there was a guy selling kits and accessories for kits via ads in Fine Scale Modler. His name was Koester (hope the spelling is close). What happened? Did he burn out or die or what. Just curious.

| Gliders and Sailplanes | 11 Aug 2004 02:26 GMT | 7 |
I have started making some kits of sport gliders and sailplanes (not military/troop carrying gliders). There seems to be two major challenges, finding the kits and placing the orders (over the internet). I have successfully ordered a Horten IV and a Blanik from

| Need AM F3F-1 instrument panel decal | 11 Aug 2004 01:33 GMT | 1 |
I have the recent boxing of this kit in which this decal is missing from the sheet. AM sent me a replacement, but it was for the F3F-2 and does not fit the -1 panel. I called AM again and they said there never was a decal for the -1 kit and I should just try to drybrush the panel. I ...
