Any tips on weathering planes and armor?28 Sep 2004 22:14 GMT8
I have been building models all my life on and off. I build for fun
and not for competition. The kits are displayed for me and whoever
comes in my house.
I am not picky about brands, level of detail and getting the exact
Startrite drill press spindle adjustment question28 Sep 2004 19:55 GMT2
I've just set up a Startrite Mercury II drill press in my workshop and have
noticed that there is a lot of radial play in the spindle; the spindle
bearings appear to be OK as the top pulley doesn't move radially, only the
inner spindle (quill?). Does anyone know how to adjust out ...
3-D Notre Dame puzzle28 Sep 2004 19:39 GMT2
I have only seen the 3-D jigsaw puzzle of Notre-Dame Cathedral on the
web.  What level of detail does it have?  Does it show all the
individual statues in the front facade?  Does it include the statues
which ascend up the steeple?  Does it include any representation of
Help posting images to abms28 Sep 2004 18:16 GMT6
I have some model jpgs I want to post to abms, but I'm not getting it
right--as in nothing seems to be happening. I've tried cut-and-paste of
the images, and attaching the image files to the posting doc, but don't
see anything happening, so I haven't actually tried to post to the ...

Painting large surfaces28 Sep 2004 14:45 GMT4
I am trying to paint my 1/48 scale F-117. The large surfaces are creating
problems for me. I am using a badger 200 airbrush, and I have noticed the
large surface areas that I have painted have spray lines. What is the proper
technique when paint surface areas?

recommend a lathe?28 Sep 2004 09:28 GMT4
I run a small engineering company that creates prototypes, and the time has
come to buy a lathe. I'm looking for something less than £500 which is going
to last and can be new or second hand. And that is what worries me.
Axminister sells lathes which look great for what I need, but ...

I've been told that I can get a 5.4mm end mill for but cannot find one - is
this a custom tool or is it generally available?
I'm in the UK and have checked the usual places such as Farnell, Chronos,
etc.
Revell V2, 1/69 scale 28 Sep 2004 08:36 GMT9
Hello group
A freind of mine has a Revell V2 bomb with launch pad in 1/69 scale. He
thinks it dates back to the late fifties. It is in the original box and is
unfortunately assembled but not painted. Would anybody be interested in such

A Sticky Fix ?28 Sep 2004 05:54 GMT10

painting the model pieces ( some still on the racks ) before assembly.
But now i'm older (wiser ?) i have a question.
If you paint two pieces and then try to stick them together surly
Suggestions for glosscoat over Tamiya acrylic?28 Sep 2004 05:32 GMT4
Now that I've got the paintjob done right on the PZ 38(t) I need to
get ready for the wash.  Conventional wisdom dictates I need a
glosscoat first right?  If so, what do you suggest for a glosscoat
over Tamiya acrylics?
