Semi OT- Loudest jet ever?30 Dec 2004 08:12 GMT87
After reading the Wyvern thread about how loud the Scimitar was, what's the
loudest jet you've ever heard? Mine is an SR-71 at Edwards just before they
went out of service. That shook the fillings in my teeth. Anybody ever see
an XB-70 takeoff? That seems like a major noise ...
Incorrectly boxed model value?30 Dec 2004 05:36 GMT23
I'm trying to help someone determine the value of a Revell Monogram
SnapTite model that was incorrectly boxed. The model is Kit # 85-1310,
which is supposed to be Jeff Gordon. The body inside the factory
sealed box is Dale Earnhardt's #3 car. Pictures of the model can be

Any aftermarket parts? Mercury Capsule30 Dec 2004 01:06 GMT1
Has anyone heard of any resin/PE stuff being done for the
MRC/Atomic City Mercury Capsule? At 1/12 scale it would be
fun to really go to town detailing one of these.

Alclad compatibility with Xtracolour ?30 Dec 2004 00:40 GMT5
I know Alclad recommends  gloss black as a base coat, but for some shades
it's acrylic and for others lacquer. Question : why ? Does it have anything
to do with the chemical reaction between Alclad and the lacquer based gloss
black (like the one I use from Xtracolour), or does it ...
Vickers Varsity Props29 Dec 2004 23:07 GMT1
Hi, can anyone tell me what propellors were fitted to the Vickers
Varsity? I'm trying to build this thing for a collection of station
based aircraft at Cranwell (to be displayed in the ops building) and
am failing quite badly at the moment. The props that came with the kit
Tamiya MiG-15?29 Dec 2004 19:55 GMT2
Whatever happened to the plain Tamiya MiG-15 kit?  I no longer see it in
stores, and none of the internet outlets lists it.   I know Tamiya did a
chrome-plated version which is still available, but the basic kit seemed to
have disappeared when the Trumpeter 15bis and 15UTI kits ...

Cutting Plastic Sheet29 Dec 2004 15:31 GMT12
I'd like to cut pieces of plastic sheet - preferabbly stiffer stock, not the
soft white stuff into rectangular pieces of the order of 3" x 6 " or maybe
smaller. Would like to get nice square sharp edges for gluing together -
some at right angles. What's the best and most accurate ...

I recently acquired this classic old kit (PL804:98) but it has no
instruction sheet.  Anyone out there able to scan one for me?

WEM 1/350 Photo-Etched Cockpits!!!29 Dec 2004 14:15 GMT11
Alright you AMS modelers (and you know who we are), here is the most
advanced set of AMS detail sets I've seen to date - White Ensign Models'
1/350 photo-etched exterior detail sets and photo-etched cockpit details for
the 1/350 Trumpeter B-25, F4F, F6F, SBD, TBD, TBF, etc. Check ...
"Dumb" question, what effect IF any. . .29 Dec 2004 06:59 GMT11
. . .Will frezzing temps have on enamle paint?  When we had those couple
of days of frezzing weather here in Dutchess County, NY.  I'd had a "brain
cramp" and had left my toolbox with all of my bottles of paint (and glue)
out on the front porch. . .
MBB Lampyridae one more time29 Dec 2004 02:32 GMT1
Earlier this month there was an interesting thread about the Lampyridea. It
took me some time to locate my research material, hence this delayed
contribution.
I too have collected material about this aircraft for years. My interest was
