Dimpled paint job29 Dec 2004 00:22 GMT5
I need some help getting a smooth paint job. I'm sprayed two coats of
Testors grey primer allowing 2 days to cure between coats and sanded smooth.
Then I applied Testors White paint. I sprayed 4 mist coats, waiting 15
minutes between and then 3 wet coats waiting 30 minutes between ...
AM B-25 "Dirty Dora"28 Dec 2004 22:05 GMT1
Few questions -
1. Do I fill in the indentations on top of the engine cowlings (a la
B-25B) or not?
2. Can I paint Model Master (Russian Topside Blue) over Gunze acrylics?

I've searched a few book sites but no luck. Anyone know the book &/or

very weird behaviour on a lot of ng's. Anyone know why?
Seems that people's posts are getting corrupted and rewritten. I don't know
if the thread / name change will help.
first airbrush28 Dec 2004 15:34 GMT7
Just got my first airbrush, a Model Master kit - air can powered.  I have
also just started to build models, armor, for the first time in 40 years -
finally have some time now that I'm a part-timer.  Built a Sherman, Panther
and working on a Dragon Wagon..
Which models to choose for re-entering the madness?28 Dec 2004 14:20 GMT15
after having been out of this for some 6 or 7 years I'd like to finally
re-enter the scale model hobby. I like aircraft models only and I prefer
the 1:48 and 1:32 scale.
I consider to start with
Alclad compatibility with Xtracolour ?27 Dec 2004 22:22 GMT1
I know the Alclad instructions mention that for some shades, you have to use
acrylic gloss black (and for others enamel based paint). Has this anything
to do with the chemical compatibility between Alclad and for example
Xtracolour gloss black (the lacquer based, not the acrylic) ...

Iwata Eclipse BCS27 Dec 2004 15:13 GMT5
I received an Iwata Eclipse BCS as a Christmas gift, and of course I'm
thrilled.  For the past five years I've been using a Paasche VL which has
served very very well, but I've heard so much about the Iwata and have really
wanted to get one.
(AIR) AM Dauntless 2-Fer27 Dec 2004 03:25 GMT3
Let's go back a couple years - Accurate Miniatures was going down the
tubes and offered their multiple kits - more than one in the box.  I got
the Dauntless kits and also the 'common parts' box which seemingly
allows four models to be built from the parts available.  I recall at ...

Soldering diecast models26 Dec 2004 20:04 GMT9
I am in the middle of modifying a diecast model landrover and would like
to use solder to reassemble it. Does anyone know what sort of alloys are
used in the manufacture of metal diecast toys/models in general, and what
kind of solders will stick to them?

to go into downtown Chicago yesterday afternoon.
We got there about lunch time and had lunch at Geno's East, the best
pizza place in the entire world.  Afterwards we walked around Michigan

Exotic Intrepid ?25 Dec 2004 17:42 GMT16
There is something fascinating about the lines of a Dodge Intrepid
(1998-2002).  From certain view angles, the cab-forward, fluid lines, almost
fish-like bodywork begs to convert this car into an exotic mid engine
two-seater.  I would like to stock some material for a future 1/24 ...
