window frames03 Aug 2005 05:13 GMT16
I'm building a Testors 1/72 B-2 and have decided that I've never had a model
that fit worse than this one.  Nothing even fits close.  Having said that,
how can I fill and sand around the clear windscreen and the fuse without
goofing up the clear windows?  I need to fit the windows ...
Material Recommendation03 Aug 2005 01:46 GMT5
For a variety of reasons I want to make my own (very small) gear cutters.
I have little facility for hardening so hope that it might be possible
to simply heat the pre-machined cutters to 'cherry red' and water quench
prior to final profile grinding.

Looking for fibreglass tape02 Aug 2005 21:46 GMT10
I need to buy a small quantity of heat resistant fibreglass adhesive tape
(e.g. 3M 361 silicone adhesive fibreglass tape).
Can anyone point me to a supplier in the UK or help me out by selling me a
small quantity (like 1 ft.)?
Starrett centre & Edge finder02 Aug 2005 20:42 GMT2
I've just got a Starrett centre & Edge finder set off Ebay, but the
instructions are missing.... Can anybody tell me how to use them please.
They look very useful, but not exactly intuitive.
Many thanks
'Brass' v 'Cycle' thread standards02 Aug 2005 20:00 GMT2
I have a Presto tap marked '5/16" BRASS 26TPI'
5/16" Cycle thread (which is what I want to make a nut for) is also 26TPI,
question is can I use the tap I have?
I have Googled but cannot find any data on the Brass thread form and
Chain Hoist02 Aug 2005 19:54 GMT1
As I'm in the process of bringing home my J&S540 grinder (no, I
haven't got it home yet -nearly there!) I had to upgrade my lifting
tackle.  My existing block & tackle was only rated at 1/2t while the
grinder weighs 3/4t.  I was half tempted to give it a try, but thought
Disney Moon/Mars Rocket02 Aug 2005 19:47 GMT4
The Strombecker kit in its various guises is a 1/72 scale model of the
rocket that originally stood in front of the Disneyland attraction. I
have never been able to fnd an affordable complete kit, but I would
really like to get a complete box. Anybody out there have one to spare?
Atomic Cannon article02 Aug 2005 19:46 GMT1
The Summer 2005 American Heritage's 'Invention and Technology" mag has
an article on the history of the cannon. Not the best pics, but  decent
background on why it was built, problems with firing it, etc...

old IMC Skyraider 'mystery' solved!02 Aug 2005 15:22 GMT8
I, like a lot of y'all, maybe, have wondered why IMC made an inaccurate
"A-1H" kit from the Monogram A-1E. I think I've solved the mystery! I
recently bought a USAF A-1E/G/H/J Flight Manual. It has a 3-view
drawing of both the A-1E/G & A-1H/J. I thought something looked funny
Testors OV-1002 Aug 2005 14:03 GMT4
You'll definitely need to add some detail to the Testors kit. It's a
very basic kit, and IIRC it's got more in common with a pre-production
machine than an operational aircraft.
I've got two detail sets from Missing Link and a cockpit detail set
Just got the latest "Aviation History"02 Aug 2005 04:31 GMT1
Well, Friday, actually but it has some interesting articles.
There's quite a good but short article on the Dewoitine D.520 in WWII.
They were in it for the whole war, right to the end.  Some info on the
British invasion of Syria and Lebanon which I've only heard whispers of
Mirage 1/48 B-17????01 Aug 2005 23:38 GMT3
A few years back Mirage announced a B-17F
and B-17G in 1/48th scale.  Have they made
any progress?  release date?
Or is this just a mirage?
Mini-Hobby Arizona kit- any good?01 Aug 2005 15:56 GMT1
Is this kit the same as the Banner/Trumpeter kit? Just got a really good
book on the Arizona and it's getting me inspired. Anybody got a
recommendation for what's the best kit in 1/350? Thanks-
