A yellow metal ring26 Aug 2005 12:52 GMT5
The inner wrapper of the saddle tank for my loco is a half cylinder of
approximately 7 1/4" (184mm) diameter. This wrapper is 20swg (0.036" -
approx. 0.92mm) brass and is to be attached to the vertical ends of the
tank. It is possible, but not at all easy, to make the tank ends ...
looking for F4F-4 Wildcat info26 Aug 2005 04:24 GMT1
Greetings all,
I am looking for any good site that might have a good three view drawing
of the F4F-4. Primarily the firewall forward. Or a good photo of one
with the cowl removed would be great.

Cream Crackers anyone ??25 Aug 2005 22:15 GMT9
Just burst *another* Jacobs keyless chuck this morning, not doing
anything stupid with it,  just drilling some 11mm holes in the end of
mild steel bar in the lathe.
Same as last time. You give the chuck a nip by hand as it's drilling
Military books via AMAZON25 Aug 2005 21:13 GMT6
This is embarrassing but I can't get AMAZON web site on the internet.
I can get everybody else all over the world but the AMAZON web site eludes
me.
I can get AMAZON Light, but not the main feature.
Australian FAA aircraft25 Aug 2005 14:08 GMT2
I'd like some reference works, either books or websites about the Fleet Air
Arm of the Royal Australian Navy and their aircraft.
In particular I'm after colour schemes from about 1950 onwards and a list of
different types operated with dates.
Cutting Wooden Discs25 Aug 2005 13:50 GMT10
Does anyone know of a good way to cut out 500mm diameter wood discs (20mm
depth). I've marked it out, but can't keep a perfect curve. I've got a
bandsaw and jigsaw if that helps.
Thanks
Photographing models25 Aug 2005 08:26 GMT2
Ok, let's take the page 3 girl jokes as given.
I have to give the local model engineering society a talk on
photographing thier models. I had, somewhere, I think in ME magazine
from the 50's, a lovely article on the subject which, apart from its

Long shot -- Winnie Mae25 Aug 2005 01:26 GMT6
I have the AMT kit and it looks sort of OK, but the decals are completely
worthless. Not even good enough to scan and clean up. Did anyone ever
release after market decals for this kit?
diamond cut-off wheels?25 Aug 2005 00:39 GMT10
Does anyone know where to get small diamond cut-off wheels (you might call
them slitting saws if you prefer)?
The usual diamond disks have layers of diamond on the flat surfaces of a
metal wheel. They are fairly useless at slitting - cut a teeny bit and the
tools for cutting into faces25 Aug 2005 00:36 GMT2
You turn a piece in the lathe, then face it. Now you want to cut a circular
groove in the face.
eg the blank for a myford-style gear wheel has a centre and rim of similar
thicknes, but inbetween there is a thinner web - how would you cut that from
Raglan24 Aug 2005 22:06 GMT1
I have been looking at second hand lathes, and I rather like the look
of a Raglan Little John (or, even better, Raglan 5").  Because I have
not been looking at "mint" condition machines (they usually fall
outside my budget) they have all needed work, or had parts missing.  I
Fine Mold Star Wars Best SW Models?24 Aug 2005 19:34 GMT8
Hey peeps.
Wanna build a couple Star Wars kits for my nephew and myself.
Are the Fine Molds kit the best bang fro the buck?
Ease of build and detail are main concerns.
