Newby question/help :=)13 Sep 2005 05:00 GMT10
I am a just getting my model building feet wet again after some 20 years of
no building at all. I lean towards WWI &II aircraft. My questions are:
What types of paints, brushes, cement, and tools should I acquire before
attempting to build a kit with some photo etchings, and ...
EBay:  3 aircraft, 3 AFV13 Sep 2005 01:37 GMT1
I'm thinning out the stash, and have listed a number of kits on Ebay.  This
time, it is a mix of aircraft and armor kits:  All have
very low starting prices, and no reserves.
Here's what I've got:

Making teeny tiny holes12 Sep 2005 19:55 GMT6
If anyone here has an espresso machine with a metal filter basket, do
you know how the holes in the filter are made? They are too small to
use a drillbit (too small for me to measure anyway - I'd estimate
0.25mm or less)
Chuck Backplate reprise12 Sep 2005 16:29 GMT12
Um.. Problem :
I have a Beurnerd 6" chuck which came with 4 off M10 cap screws that
seemed to be intended to screw it to a suitable backplate.  I found a
backplate,  machined it and tapped M10 holes in it with the predictable

F-100 Super Sabre Instructon Sheet12 Sep 2005 11:39 GMT2
After 2 moves within the last year, I am bound to loose or completely
misplace something.  Along with my canopy, which is being replaced with a
new vacform, I can not find my instruction sheet.  I know someone out there
has the Monogram 1/48 sheet, or know where I might find it ...
Dural questions12 Sep 2005 10:31 GMT13
I posted a while ago about trying to find some 7075 which I thought at
the time is the modern name for Dural.  I've since come across some
references that say 2024 is Dural,  can anyone here tell me which is
correct ?  I need the better temp range that Dural gives me cf normal
Broplan Vacform12 Sep 2005 09:40 GMT5
Has anybody seen the Broplan 1/72 Embraer EMB121 kit?  The plane has
fascinated me for a while, but I don't want to spend a lot to get it
just to find out it's unbuildable.  SAMI and SAM have done some
reviews, but they don't provide in depth details and the build photos
(AIR) "Vandy 1" - Will It Now Be An F/A-18F?12 Sep 2005 05:10 GMT1
Maybe this is too soon to ask but has VX-9 gone out of the Tomcat
business?  I'm getting things in order for a Hasegawa F-4J Black Bunny
and wondered out loud after seeing the F-14D decals available somewhere...
    Just wondering...

fine/coarse threads question11 Sep 2005 04:17 GMT2
When do you use a fine thread? Why?
Afaict there is no real strength or accurate placement difference as long as
more than a few threads are mating.
Okay it's going to be a lot easier to tap a 22x1.5 mm hole in 3/4" stainless
