| Acrylics - metal colours | 27 Dec 2005 22:35 GMT | 4 |
Recently I have bought a first bottle of metallic colour - it's Natural Steel from Vallejo (water based). I must say I don't like it. The painted surface doesn't look like metal to me (at all). Tried to mix it with Humbrol rust - no improvement, doesn't look like rusty metal.

| Sources for Decals, Parts, etc | 27 Dec 2005 20:40 GMT | 3 |
After a hiatus from the model building hobby because of school, I'm getting back into it. I STARTED building a 1/72 scale T-45 that I had bought some time back, put it back on my shelf and built the YB-49 that I got as an early Christmas present. That thing is a hoot! Looks great ...

| Attaching Ball Links to Plastic Surface | 27 Dec 2005 14:35 GMT | 3 |
I am a beginner working on my first project, and was wondering: What is the best way to attach a 2-56 threaded ball link to a flat piece of plastic (from a plastic model kit)? I don't think the ball link's base has enough surface area for CA glue,

| Cleaning fluids | 27 Dec 2005 01:18 GMT | 47 |
For the small amount of cleaning of parts etc that I do I prefer to use 500ml spray cans of solvent. Since 111 Trichloroethane became Public Enemy No. 283 it seems to be difficult to find truly effective cleaners in spray cans. For instance, at present I'm using a product

Could someone help me find interior photos of B-24s (D models and later). I have Birdsall's "Log of the Liberators" and Squadron's "B-24 Liberator In Action." Lots of good exterior photos in them but interior shots are almost non-existent. I got one

| Contact address for Sword Models? | 26 Dec 2005 14:06 GMT | 5 |
My copy of their T-38 managed to not have the ejection seats. I'd like to write to Sword and get replacements. A letter to the address printed on the side of the box went unanswered. Does anyone know how to get ahold of them?

| Plastic bugs and PE bugs? | 25 Dec 2005 18:37 GMT | 4 |
It has been several years since we have talked about plastic bugs. You know- these are those tiny little beasties that live on your floor, and when you drop a small part on the floor they devour it before you can find it.

| [Q] How's the Doyusha 1/72 VIIC u-boat? | 25 Dec 2005 18:26 GMT | 6 |
I understand it's a reissue. Is the detail good for the scale? There is also a 1/350 I-400 by Doyusha, released together. How about this one?

| Calipers at Maplins | 24 Dec 2005 23:00 GMT | 30 |
I don't really like Maplins, a bit too much like Dixons <VBG>, but they have their uses. They've got a 150mm digi caliper on offer at 15 quid as part of their Chrimble promotions. There are probably cheaper ways of buying them
