Cynical Traders Transport22 Dec 2005 12:45 GMT5
I have a motor for Peter Neill in the van, and Tim Leech has his tooling
cabinets.
Had a fairly good round trip via Preston brook, Newton Heath and Castleford, the
van is in for a new gearbox on the 10/11th January, apparently they have a weak
Hawker Sea Hawk22 Dec 2005 12:21 GMT6
Hi, decided that I would start work on the MPM kits I have of this aircraft
and of course ran immediately into a lack of reference materiel to detail
them.
What I am wanting to do is show both the air intake and exhaust trucking and
Woodwork Question22 Dec 2005 10:54 GMT12
This is about wood, but has a model engineering connection.  I want to
make some wagons for my garden railway and need some small sections of
wood -down to about 4mm x 8mm to represent some scale planks of wood.
I think the cheapest way to produce these would be to cut them from
Myford change gear dimensions ?22 Dec 2005 09:48 GMT1
I know they're 20DP and 14.5 degree pa,   but can anyone tell me how
thick they are,  and also what size the hole in the middle is, and
whether or not it's keyed,  and if so how big is that ?
Thanks,

I am helping my son with his first model airplane.
I will use an air brush for the first time as well.
But can anyone tell me how to mask the nose cone. I note you just cant
tear off a piece of tape to do it. At the hobby shops everything looks

Chris Edwards21 Dec 2005 12:17 GMT2
I've just joined this group and apologise if this is considered OT.
I've seen the name Chris Edwards ("..in deepest darkest Dorset") here a
few times.  Way back in the late 1970's I knew a Chris Edwards who
worked in The Modellers Den in Bath.  Could this be the same Chris
Revell-Monogram C-47 & B-17F in 1/4821 Dec 2005 08:39 GMT4
If you're reading this, you have at least a passing interest in the
Revell-Monogram C-47 and / or B-17F in 1/48 scale.  You also likely
know that trying to buy them is likely to result in sticker shock. The
C-47 is selling for between $28.90 and $57.99 on eBay (most completed
Kinda OT, for you older USAF guys-USAF brochure from the early '70s-help!21 Dec 2005 04:41 GMT2
OK, I'm on another sentimental journey. When I was a CAP cadet in
the early '70s, some of the USAF propaganda we had were AF brochures.
One of my favs was a magazine sized booklet which showed the different
commands of the USAF with a little color pic of the types used then.
Why the IPMS/USA is doomed.21 Dec 2005 00:26 GMT14
Poor leadership, pure and simple. Old farts and buttlickers are what
makes it happen, and they have bad attitudes too.
I am very happy to be the person responsible for the #1 rule IPMS has,
NO depiction of excriment.
AT-37 Conversion to T-37 Tweet20 Dec 2005 22:55 GMT10
I'm trying to convert the Monogram AT-37 Dragonfly to the T-37 Tweet that I
flew at Laughlin AFB, TX oh so many years ago.  I need suggestions on how to
handle the wings...anyone out here done that before?  I cut the pods off the
tips and am wondering, what next....I'm hoping ...
Trumpeter O'Brien suggestions20 Dec 2005 20:26 GMT11
I recently started the Jeremiah O'Brian.  I got the recent FSM after
buying the kit but before starting construction.  That article starts
with painting after the hull is glued together.  There are some major
issues with gluing the hull/deck assemblies.

Se 5a --forgotten fighter--relatively speaking? 20 Dec 2005 19:01 GMT18
Has the Se 5a been somewhat ignored as compared to the Spad and Sopwith
Camel?
I just don't see much modeler information on the Se 5a, yet it served in
large numbers in WWI  and I have not seen any criticisms of the
