If anyone is looking for popular model engineering books or any books for
that matter try searching the books section at www.tesco.com  they seem to
be a lot cheaper that anyone else.

Has anyone built any of the Eduard World War I Strip-down kits such as the

Thanks, Jim

Is primer really necessary for acrylic paint?15 Jan 2006 21:30 GMT4
I'm painting some vinyl tracks for a tank.  Is primer really necessary
under the acrylic paint I'll be using?  Also, is primer necessary on bare
styrene under acrylics?  FWIW, I use Testors acryls.
1/32 scale JADAM15 Jan 2006 20:09 GMT9
I like to ask if anyone that has a kit with the JADAM bomb to it, could send
it to me if you like. If you want to sell it, give me a reasonable price for
it. I only need 2...

Ferdinand Improvements?15 Jan 2006 18:15 GMT3
Has anybody worked with Royal Models update set for Dragon's
Ferdinand? I know that it includes PE and resin but it seems quite
expensive. Is the set worth the cost? Do the resin parts justify the
added cost over Aber or Eduard's PE sets? What does the resin
Ju 88A-4 Kits15 Jan 2006 14:44 GMT1
Does any know if the Revell and Hasegawa issues of the 1/48 Ju 88A-4
are just reboxed versions of the Dragon kit?  Also, how do they stack
up against the Monogram Pro Modeler version?

Repairing iron castings15 Jan 2006 13:01 GMT13
Does anyone here have experience of repairing cracked iron castings?, I'm
renovating a Lister D generating set and the rear bearing support of the
alternator is cracked, but still in one piece. It's quite a delicate casting
and the crack has sprung apart but can be pressed back ...
C-130 in the latest issue of FineScale Modeler Magazine15 Jan 2006 12:08 GMT35
It is featured on the cover and there is a nice article about it
inside.  All the detail is absolutely stunning!
Builder must be one crazy dude to pull such a feat.
But ever since I laid my eyes on the cover, something has bothered me
Sources of cast iron15 Jan 2006 08:36 GMT7
A thread in the group that ran a long while back now debated the use of sash
weights as a good source of cast iron.  In summary the outcome was that
there seemed to be sash weights produced early in the 20th century were high
grade material (ie useful) and later versions pretty ...
[Q] AFV Club XII U-boat - what's the scale?15 Jan 2006 03:44 GMT1
I got this kit, very nice with detailed panels and stuff, and the box
says it's 1/350 scale. When placed next to a 1/350 aircraft carrier
this u-boat is totally dwarfed.
What I'm wondering is, is it really 1/350? I was looking at the
Happy 1st birthday to the Home Workshop Team!14 Jan 2006 22:36 GMT3
I note that today is the first aniversary of the Home Workshop web

the team and long may your efforts continue - I'm sure they're
greatly appreciated by many of us! All the best, Tiggurr
Bare metal finish seal ?14 Jan 2006 22:30 GMT6
Being a newbie to the bare metal finishing of plastic models, I brought
a Testors Aluminium paint spray can from the hobby store and sprayed it
on. After letting it dry overnight, I still can see paint powder
sticking to my fingers when i touch it - Since ive got a lot more
Molding Kit Question14 Jan 2006 18:13 GMT4
At the local hobby store they have a kit that lets you make your own
molds for models and such.  Anybody have any info on this thing?  Is it
worth the money?  I think it's going for sixty dollars but on sale for
forty.
