Museum aircraft pictures on DVD18 Jan 2006 11:43 GMT2
Question for the group:
I have a commission to photograph a large number of aircraft and relics
for the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton in UK. Primary reason is that
there is no comprehensive photographic record of all they have, and it
F-4 variant conversions18 Jan 2006 07:47 GMT15
Well...  I've finally cracked.  I've been resisting making any F-4s for some
time, but I have some rather nice decal sheets...
I would like to build an F-4J and a slatted F-4E using the Hasegawa kits.
However the Hannants site shows that these versions are currently

Help and advice wanted18 Jan 2006 05:13 GMT6
I am returning to plastic modelling after an absence of 25 years as I have
started to collect space kits (primarily factual subjects).
Can anybody recommend any books or websites which would teach the basics of
the subject?  Something about building resin kits would also be welcomed

That hole again -  progress report17 Jan 2006 09:13 GMT10
(for those not following the saga, I'm trying to drill and ream a 4mm dia 60
mm deep hole - and some other holes - in Inconel X-750)
Well I did my first hole - using a 7mm unpronounceable Frhei bit,  which
cost £6-odd, and needed sharpening three times - the first time because the

Gluing Vinyl17 Jan 2006 04:11 GMT6
Not that I'm going to invest in vinyl kits but I was wondering what
might work best to reattach an arm to an early '50s Marx figure?  I have
one of the 60mm Fort Apache figures who has shed his left arm and I'd
like to restore the use of his arm for him.
Spanish American "Warpaint"17 Jan 2006 01:51 GMT3
I have noticed in looking at photographs of the same ships that
depending on the amount of light avaliable colors are not consistent,
sometimes the gray looks light, at other times dark.
Are there any suggested model colors for US Navy  Spanish American War

Slightly OT : Steam trains16 Jan 2006 23:07 GMT5
On some Steam trains, there are two big vertical metal plates at the front,
one either side of the box at the base of the funnel.
What are they for, please?
Thanks
RAF Jaguar16 Jan 2006 22:19 GMT2
Did the Jaguars which took part in Operations Granby and Warden keep the
light grey(?) colour of the main and front landing gear, or were these
also painted in the desert pink camouflage.  It is difficult to find a
clear picture of one of these machines with the gear down and not ...
B-24D16 Jan 2006 21:52 GMT8
A friend's building a Revell B-24D, and is looking for aftermarket parts.
I've been trying to help him, but have come up empty.  Anyone know if
aftermarket is available for this kit?
Training courses ?16 Jan 2006 21:51 GMT29
Does anyone know if local authorities still run training courses in
metalworking?
I did a little at school, and then a concentrated 8 week course getting my
electronics degree.  Since then, nothing.  So, I'm pretty rusty <g>, and
Circlip grooves16 Jan 2006 21:51 GMT21
Here is a question that will be simple for most.
What is the easiest way to cut internal circlip and O ring grooves on my
lathe.
Thanks.
