Wanadoo stopped doing newsgroups some time ago. Anyone moved to a good fast free news server, one that allows posting. This is my third attemp to post. Others have been replies to ongoing threads that never made it.

Unless someone knows where I can get one, it looks like I may have to make a compression spring for my power saw. Its 3 inch OD, 2 inches long and 1/4inch diameter steel - 4 turns. I haven't spotted any car or bike springs that diameter and spring rate - but maybe there is kit out

I need to crimp connectors onto 6mm dia cable. Does anyone know of a design for a tool which I could use in a large vice or under a small fly press? It's the internal form and dimentions of the device which rearly I need Jim Lugsden.

I recently heard of self-locking screws being used for gib adjusters - does anyone know anything about them? I've heard of self-locking nuts, but not self-locking screws. Does anyone know where to buy them?

I was at one of our toolmakers today and he asked if I knew anyone who wanted a small surface grinder. They 'found' a Dronsfield Eagle no.3 they had forgotten they had after moving a few pallets of old box stock.
