BW Electronics DRO`s27 May 2006 12:24 GMT22
I am looking at putting a dro on a centre lathe. As you all know, one of
the problems with these on a lathe is keeping the cables from getting
tangled up in turnings as the sensor is moving with the slides, apart
from the issues of mounting the cross slide one so that it is not in
Metal colors27 May 2006 01:09 GMT17
What paint should I use so the painted area really looks metal?
I used metal colors of Tamiya, Vallejo (both water and alcohol based) and I
don't like the results.
What I really liked was when I put a bit of aluminium foil (used to wrap
harrison 140 screwcutting gbox26 May 2006 18:20 GMT3
I'm hoping that there might be someone familiar with the metric ( 3
rotary selector knob) norton gearbox on the Harrison 140. My problem is
that the selector knobs are not functioning correctly. If I change
either of the 2 left hand knobs I usually end up with a false neutral -

Spindle Speeds -  C6B Lathe26 May 2006 16:27 GMT10
I'm adding additional speed ranges to my C6B,  primarily at the bottom end
eg 40-400rpm.  Similarly nudging the top speed up from 2000rpm.  3500rpm
looks like a good theoretical target,  but back on planet earth with a 125mm
chinese chuck on the spindle,  what is a practical ...
slightly O/T. Computer question26 May 2006 15:58 GMT64
Hi Troops:
I am having some small glitches with my computer and I suspect they are
due to small bits of previously removed programs remaining in the
registry. I was in Office Depot yesterday and noticed a couple of
Removing Chrome26 May 2006 15:19 GMT17
Hello all - I received the help call that's printed below from a friend.
Basically it says it all including the fact that it probably isn't our

[[any idea on how to remove chrome paint?  Actually I think it is
Oil and grease guns and nipples26 May 2006 12:40 GMT3
I think I need to get an oil gun. Can you tell whether you should be
applying oil or grease by the shape of the nipple ? Grease nipples seem to
have a ball fitting on the end, and I have some nipples on a lathe which
apparently need oil and just taper to a flat end. Then I have some ...
Oil metering valves26 May 2006 11:49 GMT3
Does anyone know where I might find some little lube oil metering
valves to replace duff ones on my lathe?
These are threaded what seems to be nearly-but-not-quite 5/16" UNF
male at either end, the input screws into a manifold and the output
Carbon Fibre Sheet26 May 2006 11:05 GMT15
Can anybody point me in the direction of a supplier who supplies small
quantities of carbon fibre sheet? I want to make a few parts for my RC Car
and need a few small bits in varying thicknesses.

The joys of turning copper25 May 2006 20:22 GMT4
I got two pairs of extra arms for my spot welder off ebay - both
Clarkes and from the same source, and needed to turn the ends down to
18mm to suite my SIP spotmatic - nice easy job. One pair of arms
turned absolutely beatifully, the other pair were sticky as ****.
