| Batman and Superhero Model Kits | 30 Jun 2006 22:38 GMT | 7 |
I'm new to this group, having developed a newfound appreciation for the modeling kits of my youth, probably because I recently turned 49. I notice a lot of them are being reissued lately. I just completed a vinyl Michael Keaton "Batman Returns" that I found on eBay. Probably ...

| An alternative to Dullcoat (Long) | 30 Jun 2006 16:44 GMT | 6 |
I like Dullcoat a lot. It is a very good product. But, i model all year long. Dullcoat is especially bad in the Winter in a closed house. I have no way to vent it out of the house. The smell is strong and maybe good for the lungs, It makes you run out of the house and take alot of

| Future Floor Wax and painting woes | 30 Jun 2006 11:49 GMT | 15 |
Could someone enlighten me as to what I'm doing wrong here.... I thought a coat of Future would protect my undercoat from getting eaten up by my wash... what am I doing wrong? 1) I painted my model (testors - model masters). Let it dry a few days.

| Slip Gauges | 30 Jun 2006 11:05 GMT | 11 |
Having now bought my "last" (wife's description) machine for a while, I've been pondering the purchase of a set of Slip Gauges. For those lucky enough to have a set do they get much use or are they just good to look at? I have seen sets of "gauge blocks" are they a cheaper

| The quest is over, a new one begins!! | 30 Jun 2006 10:24 GMT | 3 |
Having agonised over the replacement of my small bench mill for a considerable time the decision has finally been made and the deed done. Beer tokens have been passed to John S (the least cynical trader I have ever met by the way) and a Bridgeport is now resident in my garage

| Friendly survey - What 1/48 aircraft kits would you like to be newly tooled? | 30 Jun 2006 02:15 GMT | 40 |
For me it would be the F-100 Super Sabre, the SAAB Viggen, and Jaguar (both French snd English), EH 101 Merlin, Mirage F-1, and Tornado GR1/F3. Can you imagine what these kits would be like if Hasegawa or Revell came out with new kit designs for these planes? I drool just

| Machinable Copper bar | 29 Jun 2006 20:56 GMT | 4 |
I need to make up four 3/4" BSP copper tails (so 1.041" o/d) for the ends of the feed pipes for my induction furnace but my recent experiences machining copper were very mixed, with apparently identical looking bars varying from horrid sticky stuff to nice crisp

| Heat resistant adhesives | 29 Jun 2006 20:01 GMT | 4 |
Vaguely engineering I guess. SWMBOs oven door is falling apart. On inspection the bottom hinges (top down opening door) are fixed to the glass of the door with adhesive which has come adrift. The remaining bits are pliable rather than brittle.

| Air chuck FOC. | 29 Jun 2006 19:27 GMT | 9 |
When I got my Herbert Flashcap lathe some years ag now it came with an airchuck fitted. This I took off and fitted standard 3 and 4 jaw chucks. So if anybody can find a use for the old chuck it is free to anybody that

| Any Ship Builders Around? | 29 Jun 2006 19:20 GMT | 7 |
Just stopped to say hello while searching around for Ship Builders group. I started with the plastic Revell 1/96 scales of the Constitution and the Cutty Sark. After careful study, I've used AutoCAD in the past to lay out hull designs...tried my hand at cast
