1/24 P-51 wheels08 Jun 2006 05:05 GMT1
Anyone know where I can get a set of resin (or otherwise, I suppose)
wheels for a 1/24 P-51D (Airfix)? Wheel wells would be a real bonus,
but I can scratch build these. I checked Jerry Rutman's site and asked
there, but wanted to check here as well.

Tail Number Question on WW2 US Fighters07 Jun 2006 05:05 GMT1
I'm trying to resolve an information conflict on two American

Other than Hyperscale and the discussion groups on FSM and Scale Auto,
are there any other decent model discussion groups out there?  I have
tried the Yahoo stuff and find that to be very user "unfriendly".
Unfortunatly this group (rec.models.scale) seems to be going about 50%

Painless way to Black alluminium07 Jun 2006 00:04 GMT3
The question is more or less as per the title :  is there a painless way to
blacken alluminium (6082) which doesn't involve the palaver associated with
anodising (eg acid baths and electric currents).  Ideal would be a solution of
something innocuous that you can immerse the part ...

A few years back I picked up some interesting bits in a junk shop that
only came to light again during my aborted move, and I'm still not
sure what they are. Hard to describe but here goes:
A cast iron cylindrical body about 3" diameter and 3" long with a
