Rattly J-head & Wimpy Converter13 Aug 2006 21:40 GMT11
Sorry, this is a bit longishÂ…
My Bridgy has a rattly head. Its not a Vari-speed, just the common or
garden variety J-head with a 2-speeder on it.
I finally got some time to myself this afternoon, and wired up the
Question about cleaning airbrush13 Aug 2006 21:17 GMT2
I am not a complete newbie but more of an occasional model builder. I
own an iwata eclipse airbrush which I use only with Tamiya acrylics for
easy clean up.
I use krylon in a can as a primer and recently heard that better
Shear strength of 3/4" square steel?13 Aug 2006 20:48 GMT34
I've got to do the final tightening of some cylinder heads tomorrow.
I've been using a torque multiplier but for some of the bolts there's
no good way to secure the reaction arm & it's been getting damaged.
(it's the type designed for waggon wheel nuts which uses a second
Where Can I Buy Resin Jet Intakes?13 Aug 2006 19:04 GMT1
I'm looking for an on-line source that sells 1/48 resin jet intakes for
planes like the A-7 and F-16. I've heard of "Seamless Suckers", but
have not been able to locate an on-line source.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
3 phase motor as a generator ?13 Aug 2006 18:43 GMT8
Can one use a 3 phase motor as a 3 phase generator?
A rotary phase converter gets a normal 3 phase motor spinning using
essentially 2 phases by using an artificially generated second phase
via a capacitor, and the motor generates the third phase.

Eduard 1/48 P-39 & P-400 Question12 Aug 2006 19:54 GMT3
Does anyone know why these kits have parts to install a 4 bladed prop? I
thought only the P-63 had the 4 bladed prop.

F-11 Tiger - why didn't it ever achieve wide modeling popularity?12 Aug 2006 11:38 GMT11
Tonight I was reviewing some old Blue Angels photos, and came upon the
F-11 Tiger.   It served the Blues for quite a while, and that got me
thinking:  why hasn't the Tiger taken off (pun intended) with modelers
like the Phantom or Crusader?  Seems like it's the forgotten USN
Flexible connection with spring innside12 Aug 2006 10:40 GMT5

New Dora railway gun in 1/35 : anyone else pre-ordering this bad boy?12 Aug 2006 10:15 GMT11
I pre-ordered one last week after I saw the little ad in FSM.  Also
bought the 1/144 version to use as a trial build before I tackle the
big one.  Any comments or suggestions on the smaller kit would be
appreciated.  Once I start I'll put photos up on my website.
240-110V Isolation Transformer(s) Free....11 Aug 2006 18:21 GMT16
We are rebuilding some chargers for a customer, where the mains trannies are too
low on voltage, so they will be scrapped.
They are going to be rebuilt as 3-phase and we have no immediate use for a big
240V 110V output transformer, so if anyone has a need for about 11kVA at 110V on

burnt iron??11 Aug 2006 14:29 GMT6
I can't find the color BURNT IRON at any of my local hobby shops and
they've never heard of it. The kit I'm putting together calls for it
when detailing the headers of a car.  I'm going to have to make it, but
what does it look like--roughly?
