Bearing discounts?28 Sep 2006 21:17 GMT16
Can anyone explain to my why the bearing supply industry has such an
apparently daft system of discounts?
I've been well aware of it for many years, but it was brought home to
me particularly yesterday. I need to get a big split ball thrust race,
Badger 150 color cup question28 Sep 2006 17:07 GMT8
I just got a Badger 150, and it works pretty well using the glass jar
to hold the paint. My question is, how does the color cup attach? If it
points forward, then it's at such a steep angle that the paint runs out
when you tip it just a little.  You can't point it backwards because
Picking a Paasche airbrush - F or H??27 Sep 2006 19:13 GMT15
Hey, all...
I'm looking to get a basic airbrush. In truth, it's only for one task
(some controlled application of paint to my car wheels), although I
expect I could see other uses for it afterwards, but I'm not convinced
Anyone got a 2 BA left hand threaded machine screw?27 Sep 2006 09:01 GMT4
Aargh! Yesterday I made a real mess of a screw trying to remove it
because I didn't realise it was left hand threaded. One of those times
when a manual would have been really useful. Does anyone have a 2 BA
left hand threaded machine screw, or know of a source? The original is
Small parts gold plating27 Sep 2006 07:58 GMT16
I'm into amateur sound recordings using electret microphones.  These require
a low voltage, ~ 2.2v, which is supplied by the camcorder or Minidisc
recorder via the signal lead.  Consequently for low noise recordings it is
essential that the 3.5mm plugs and sockets between the ...

Dragon does US M2/M2A1 Halftrack!27 Sep 2006 00:13 GMT1
Holy cow, it finally happened - we're going to get a decent 1/35
M2/M2A1 kit.   Spruebrothers has it up for preorder, and includes a
picture.  It's going to be one of the Smart Kit series.  Sorry if this
is already well known, but thought some here like me might not have

stripping paint from resin?26 Sep 2006 02:49 GMT8
I've seen threads here on stripping paint from plastic and diecast - what do
people like to use for doing the same with resin models?
(or pointers to the archive are appreciated!)
thanks
Where can I buy decent large hand files?26 Sep 2006 00:25 GMT6
A couple of years ago I bought a couple of 14" hand files which were a
delight to use when new but, being labelled Draper, they haven't lasted
too well.
Any ideas on where I might buy good quality, e.g. Nicholson or Stubs,
Book Dust Jacket Repair25 Sep 2006 20:55 GMT2
I have quite a few valued harcover reference books where the dust
jacket is torn and falling to pieces every time I put it back on the
shelf.  I just came up with a repair solution I love.  I happened to
have a roll of vinyl prepasted wallpaper.  Its strong and flexible.
Help with engine shaft25 Sep 2006 19:14 GMT5
Perhaps someone can assist me before I ruin a shaft or oil seal!
I have an elderly Honda G65 engine that was part of a 240 volt generator.
The shaft from the engine is approx 110 mm in length with an initial 30 mm
diameter section shouldered down to 22 mm diameter with a taper for ...
model car garage25 Sep 2006 18:13 GMT5
I am making a garage for toy cars. I have cut a piece of 4mm ply 2 feet by 2
feet and am using more ply the same for walls for the garage. Have drawn up
a road and built a ramp down from the roof of the garage. The ramp has 2
corners on it and the game is to drive the car off the ...
Wyvern25 Sep 2006 14:43 GMT8
I got an answer to my question regarding resin details/cockpit. etc for the
1/48 scale Trumpeter Wyvers S.4 kit and I appreciate that info.  I'm still
wondering if anyone has any info on the other question I asked about this
kit regarding the wing guns.
Hobby Boss 1/72nd Aircraft25 Sep 2006 05:12 GMT8
Does anybody know anything about these Hobby Boss models?  Seems pretty
amazing that a new company would be investing in a line of 1/72nd
models.  They already have a lot of kits out!  Could these be from old
Airfix/Heller tools?  Maybe Heller pawned the tools.
